Says the pattern will be Kegel's "Sunset Strip". Has any1 bowled on it before and what do you think the best ball layouts/surface/strategy will be? Thanks for your time guys!

It looks like a medium length pattern (40') with a moderate amount of volume. The shape appears to be in "zones" that usually allow you to play wherever you want. You just have to throw good shots.

There isn't a magic ball or layout that will make it play easy...just go with a normal arsenal and play where everyone else is. Usually on the fresh the track will be ideal, and as the day goes along you'll move in.

you can play almost anywhere from left 5 to right 5 if u go out of 5 is bye bye.
Hookers will play inside and most play down 10
not too bad I like it when the lanes a bit burn on the track.

Don't keep digging for a magic cure...you'll get someone who shot 220 on it once with "insert ball" drilled "inser drilling" at "insert surface"...and you'll go out there with your head in a box. Just take a normal arsenal...and play where everyone else is.

wow...who chit in your cheerios? But I guess for someone that has finished 27th in doubles at the USBC know's all. What's wrong with seeking some information about people's success on this pattern? Yes, that may include "ball", "drilling" and "surface". That is the information that is shared often on this "forum". Good luck this year in Reno!

I wasn't trying to be an a**...I'm trying to give you advice. Too many times over the years I have listened to what people told me to do before I got to a tourney. I did it SOO much bowling regionals and what it did was put me in a box. I would let somoene tell me "Hey Pattern _ always plays in the track..or inside...or wherever" and I would go and try to beat my head against the wall playing where I was told, instead of where the pattern truly gave me.

The reality is that it's a medium length and volume pattern, but depending on the loads and the topography of the surface it could play COMPLETELY different than anyone else on here has seen. A great example of that is the USBC pattern. Year after year centers in Atlanta put the shot out, and it NEVER plays the same as the actual pattern.

I'm just telling you from experience, take your normal stuff...and use the 15 minutes of practice you get to learn it. If someone tells you "I threw a Hammer Doom in the track and it worked for me all day"...you could spend too much time trying to make the track work...when everyone else migrates somewhere else.

If you want to get pi**y and say stupid crap about my lack of bowling accomplishments...that's your perrogative. Keep asking questions and have fun watching everyone else bowl in the finals. Oh and if you want to make a wager on All Events for Reno this year I'm game....lol.

If someone would say "Hey Hosel I had some success on that pattern on 5 year old Pro lane and I used a Teal Rhino with leverage weight" I could take that information and do something with it. Or if someone said "I recently bowled on this pattern on older HPL with a Turbo X and the ball hooked at my toes". This is information a person can take and come up with a game plan. All information can be put into a game plan. Having a plan to bowl a particular pattern is better than not having a plan at all.

Who said you had a lack of bowling accomplishments? I was simply restating what you have in your profile. Nothing pi*** about that just stating the facts. When are you bowling in Reno? Pretty sure we are bowling April 15th and 16th. I would make a wager but I'm just a hack that looks for suggestions on Ballreviews.com because obviously I can't figure it out by using my "normal stuff" during a 15 minute practice session. But I may consider it....

lol...okay let me put my d**k away. Sorry I got a little out of hand there...I think I am there the first weekend (March 3rdish). Betting when you're not bowling head to head is silly...and in all reality most of my bowling wagering now centers around bar tabs

I hope you bowl well in Vegas (and at Natls). Just look at what you can really measure, which is the pattern readout. Other than that go talk to the ball reps that are there, they get to bowl on it before the tourneys and can tell you exactly where to play. I was out there in 2006 and the B'wick guys were DEAD ON with their analysis.

Just take an open mind and a diverse arsenal. A pattern around 40ft is usually going to play around the track on the fresh, unless it is blended in a really strange way, which this doesn't appear to be. As the day goes along you'll slowly move in and play a fade. The transition will completely depend on the loads and type of oil being used.

LOL...No problem...I would rather bowl some action head to head as well. It would of been cool if we were bowling the same times this way when we were done we could of had some beers and talk about how to bowl on Sunset Strip.

Anyways I will expect a full report of your trip to Natls this year. Which will include "ball", "drilling" and "surface" for each event, including Bowlers Journal.
