Brian Voss & Norm Duke clinic
« on: May 08, 2013, 07:05:11 AM »
I am in the beginning stages of trying to put together a clinic with B.V. and Duke. Wanted some input from you guys around here. Looks like I will need to charge $100 per head for an all day event. I don't have all the details yet but it should include bowling ball raffles, autographed memoribilia, food, hopefully some video analysis, and I think Brian hinted at a copy of his  ew book for each student.

Trying to guage interest and get input into other ideas and such. Any feedback will be appreciated. You can get in touch through my website and I am in the process of linking a Paypal option for payment for people with regional interest in coming out to see us.

Thanks guys.....let me know what I may be overlooking. Kinda like a little kid I am so excited about it and so I am sure there will be things that pop up. Aiming for the 24th of August but nothing official yet. I will create a new post once all the details are settled.

Joe.

I'd be very interested in that.  Please keep this updated, I think I'd be willing to make the 4 hour trip (though I do have people I can stay with near Toledo).

The only problem with this as I see it is you're not doing it here in NorCal!

My only consolation is I'm doing a clinic next month with Duke's coach Bill Hall.

I just did a Next Level Bowling clinic here in Hawaii and it was awesome.  The clinic had 4 different stations for you to go to throughout the day.  Norm Duke's instruction is very good and easy to understand but it is basically the same for each bowler.  Rhino was there to talk about lane play but what made it good was the fact the bowling center put out 4 different patterns for you to bowl on to better understand what Rhino was talking about.  The third station had Tyler Jensen(Storm Regional ball rep) there to talk about layouts and surface management.  The slide show he had for surface management was very good and it showed some interesting pictures on various tests they have performed recently.  The layout portion was good to because he went to every person and watched them bowl and gave insight on possible layouts to use and why.  The final station was for a Storm Matchmaker and they had a lane set aside for you to be filmed.  If you chose to pay the extra money then they would give you a video lesson on timing and give you a quick rundown of what they initially saw.  The clinic I attended was enjoyable for all experience levels.

Give Rick Moceri and 5 Star Lanes in Sterling Hts a call.  He has been having clinics with those guys for years.  This past year he did it with different bowlers.  He's a good guy, he'll help you.  He does his in early October.
Long Gone also posts the honest truth which is why i respect him. He posts these things knowing some may not like it.

Sounds cool, I would be interested in that...it's not a super bad drive for me.

I would be interested in attending if there were a clinic here in northern NJ. The features that Noles described in his post really sounded great.

I would definitely be interested in attending and, depending on the date, I am sure I could bring another 3-4 others with me.

Date is looking to be August 24th and the set up will be nearly identical to what noles described. Couple twists but pretty similar.

1) Overlapping squads with the 3 hour overlap dedicated to lunch, photo/autographs, Matchmaker, Pro Challenge, and a break for the Pros.

2) We will be raffling off items to offset the costs of the event without having to overload the participation. Also, working with my marketing guys on a TON of potential door prizes such a s free or discounted meals, rounds of golf, limo service, and embroidery work for team shirts.

3) We will be donating a ball from the shop as a door prize, and we will attempt to get some discounted items to pass on at cheap prices. Also, major discounts on tune up work like grips, cover prep, etc.

4) We are open to any other ideas and suggestions potential stundents may look forward to. Email me here or on my website if you have something specific.

Now, remember this is all tentative. We have yet to confirm any of the details but this is what we are aiming for. Once it is official we will accept payments via Paypal on our website and on Next Level for those who are out of town. Pre orders on ball specials associated with the clinic seminar will be offered that way as well.

Keep the feedback coming. This is not a profit driven idea. It would be nice to make a couple extra bucks but the reason for doing it is to allow my customers and friends access to these two fine Pros and their wealth of knowledge.

Good to know buddy.....we will be in touch when all is confirmed. We would really appreciate the support and you are one of the prime motivators in this endeavor. Gonna be a heavy lift but I know we can get there with the help of our friends.

Bumpity bump. Gonna look into some discounted rooms nearby the shop for the pros and anyone from out of town. Once everything is finalized I will put up an official post and message individuals who show interest.

This is a excellent plan. I know I could use tips to improve. I also will spread the word to others that may be interested.
I have told quite a few guys about this - the issue seems to be the price may be a bit to high if it stays at 100
