I really like that they have these videos.  I love watching good bowlers throwing good shots on tough conditions.  I like watching their moves, adjustments, gameplan . . this is the way bowling is supposed to be.

So just for fun, I'm gonna put some things down here that I noticed or that stand out to me, and I'm interested to see what everybody else sees and if you agree or disagree with me.

First thing that stands out to me is how good John Szczerbinski is.  He's so relaxed and his swing is so easy that it looks like he can almost get TOO relaxed.  Jesse Buss is on the Sean Rash end of the spectrum it looks, still very very good, but if he gets amped up a bit, he can wing one.

The main announcer kid just drives me nuts, he sounds like he's 13, it's just pretty painful to listen to him.  Fleming has kind of a classic style, he's fun to watch.  Steelsmith and Hromek make it pretty obvious why they had success on tour, even in their 50s they still throw it good, just a really even keel, very professional attitudes.  I don't know where this Lenz and Jensen came from, but I'm not seeing much from them.

I've heard the name Casey Slaughter before, and I'm not going to say he's terrible, but I don't really see any kind of consistency there.  Matt McNiel won't stop talking about AJ Demond, who is pretty good, but it would be nice to hear him talk about everybody else a little more.  Drewes looks like a cross between John and Jesse, just a bit nervous here.

As far as the shot goes, it looks very scoreable, but I hear that with this Ice oil that if you don't work together and break the shot down right, it turns into a nightmare in a hurry.  Looks like there's reaction pretty far right if you keep it soft, and hold in the middle if you prefer throwing it harder.  This looks like a very fair, universal shot, meaning that it looks like no particular group or style is shut out, although it looks like the higher rev guys might have a slight advantage being able to hit up on it and float it out to 5-6 board without early movement.  The pins look pretty lively, but of course guys throwing it pure will make it appear that way.

I didn't want to ramble on forever, plus I wanted to leave some room for what everybody else has to say.  I'm interested in what everybody else sees.
What would you be if you were attached to another object by an inclined plane, wrapped helically around an axis?

Ah, thanks for the clarification.  I knew they were close, I just took a stab.

I really enjoyed watching John Szczerbinski bowl this year during the PBA league. He threw it great from what I saw from the Open Championships live stream. His game seems so simple yet extremely versatile. I really think he has or he is very close to having "Barnes" like versatility while being smoother/less mechanical/more natural (at least in my opinion). I believe that we are going to see him win a major, or multiples within the next few years.

I agree.  He's got one of those games that just universally translates, his game is a perfect match to the challenges of the sport.

Casey Slaughter is a good bowler!  Ex-Shocker.  Just wanted to point that out.  He's not as seasoned as these other guy but can still put them together.

The Jensen's are a bowling family in Wichita, with the exception to Jeff who lives in Reno and is the head mechanic at the Stadium.  They use to own 2 bowling alleys in the Wichita area until hard times came around in the mid 2000's.  That pair of lanes showed probably the most talent of any 10 you will ever see together and working the pair.

Yeah, I know a little about him, and you can't judge someone on seeing them once, but the contrast with the other guys is pretty drastic.

There's not a weak link in the group.  They wouldn't be on the team if they were hacks.  Obviously Jensen made some mistakes, but this guy has tons of bowling knowledge and skill.  With correct ball and line matchup, these lanes look very playable.  Exactly the opposite if you have wrong ball and line.  Makes me even more impressed to see all the teams over 3,400 this year and over 10,000 team all-events.  Really good communication and execution.  I wonder how high scores would be if some of these teams had a re-entry with all they learned the first time.

Most incredible thing, to me, is that Steelsmith had a thumb slug come partially out before this at Bowlers Journal.  He fell on the lanes and landed on his ball with his hand still in it.  Hand swelled and possibly broken.  Possible broken rib.  Watch again and see if you can tell he's injured that bad.  Yeah, he's good.  I did notice he didn't give "5" with his bowling hand.
