Title: 279 x 3 = 837
Post by: novawagonmaster on March 07, 2007, 04:28:13 AM
Anyone witnessed this?

Something tells me I will accomplish this before I shoot a 300 game

Jon,

I had this rolled against me in a doubles league a few weeks back.  It was at Crestwood Bowl in St. Louis, MO.  The guy was a former teammate of mine in another league.  He was like a machine that night and left 3 solid 10 pins all night.  It was impressive to watch.

A woman at the house I bowl at on Friday nights accomplished this earlier in the season.

There was a fellow in the Morich forum who did that, and another in the Brunswick forum who did it with a Vapor Zone.  You should be able to find the posts.

I've never seen it, though.  It's funny how you can miss three out of 36 strikes and end up with only 837 or you can miss three out of 36 strikes and end up with 870 (290 x 3).  Or even 897 (299 x 3).  Or throw only 27 strikes and shoot 801 (267 the hard way x 3).  8s are like that, I guess.  When you're talking about big strings of strikes, a miss is -20 pins easy.

I personally did this two Fridays ago.  My best set by 1 pin.

4 pin in the 4th in the first game

10 pin in the first of the tenth second game

4 pin in the third of the last game

well on my saturday morning youth league last year, my friend didn't go triplicate 279, BUT he did go...

XXXXXXXXXX9/ = 289
XXXXXXXXXX9/ = 289
XXXXXXXXXX9/ = 289

Front 10, 10 pin.  Front 10, 10 pin.  Front 10, 10 pin.

On top of that he at the time had never rolled a 300.  He had had something like 30-40 289s but had not been able to get past that until this year.  Yeah, he really happy but really pissed too...  lol
