Ebay
« on: May 10, 2004, 11:24:27 PM »
I just bought a ball in a Ebay Auction, buy it now from a seller that has 2 positive feedbacks, read them, both good and I proceded with the transaction. Now Ebay sent me a fraud alert saying not to send payments, but this is 4 days later and I have sent my payment thru paypal. The seller is weeonez1 and I was wondering if anyone has has ever has had this problem and what's the best way to get my money back. I went thru paypal processes but I was wondering if it would be wise to cancel it on my credit card.

I looked up his ID on Ebay.  He has only been a user for a few short months.  (Warning sign)  His previous items sold were pecans and a calendar.  (Warning sign)

Paypal and Ebay are the same company now.  If Paypal won't reverse the payment and credit your card, definitely put the charge in dispute with your credit card company.

I believe paypal has some sort of insurance on transactions... as does eBay.  If the transaction does turn out to be a frraud, you can file with eBay/paypal for a refund (minus $20) of the auction ending price.  In addition, eBay has links to file a federal internet fraud complaint through the FBI.

I have filed three of these complaints in the past 5 yrs of eBay use.  Once I was compensated through eBay for the auction price minus $20.  The other two a still "Under Investigation".  Its not a great option, but still better than nothing.  At least eBay is trying to help out though...

Good luck!

Alright.. ESPN has conformed what we have thought all along...  Bowling is a low degree of difficulty sport, requiring little to no athleticism.  On the bright side, we did beat out shooting, billards and fishing!

I looked at that deal as well, but come on who could sell a new uranium for $129.95 and that guy had no pics. I emailed him and said I would buy one if I could pick it up in person and he gave me some lame excuse why I couldn't do it. I really have no idea what you can do at this point except wait 30 days and file something with Paypal saying you never received the item. Yea, he had 2 positive feedbacks but not for bowling balls..

Basically on ebay, if it looks to good to be true, it normally is.. I knew no one could sell uranium's for $129.95..

I thought it was to good to be true, but I am new buyer on ebay so I didn't think it would come to this, but I now know to look further into a auction if the price is to low. Can I stop payment thru my credit card company?

I don't think you can stop payment at this point.. You will now have to deal with paypal as far as getting your money back. I am sorry this guy has stiffed you and hope it all works out..

Keep us posted..
