would a bowling "country club" work??
« on: December 04, 2003, 01:15:44 AM »
i just read a post about some bowling centers having monthly, quarterly or yearly passes for sale . . .  do you think a relatively large metropolitan area could support a bowling country club??

let's say for example:  $2,000 to join, $150/month dues, unlimited bowling

for league play, you'd only pay to put money in the prize fund.

there would be a pro shop with good teaching professionals, and other amenities similar to a golf club.

imagine the possibilities . . . a really great lane machine . . . different leagues based on experience levels, scratch and handicap . . . youth programs for your kids . . .

might even be able to make the center "semi private" with open lane play, but members would always be able to have a lane.  what do you think?

They have this kind of stuff in the philippines... only difference is that it includes golf, too.

i guess now i know why there aren't any "country club" bowling centers . . .

maybe it would better to open a "shoe show" parlour and put in a couple of lanes . . .

after you pay the $2 grand up front, annual bowling would be $1,800 per year.

i guess it would depend on how a person would value an upscale center with controlled access.

if you want to bowl enough to make the bowling $1 per game, you'd have to bowl around 35 games a week.  at $1.50 per game you'd have to bowl around 23 games a week.  not really that many, especially if family members are involved in the sport.

like golf . . . pay $15 to play the piece of crap muni course, or pay $50 to play the nicer semi-private or public course.

i would personally pay a premium for well dressed, consistent lanes, top line equipment, and the company of like-minded, serious bowlers.

'Round here, a "bowling country club" would also involve beat up Fords, pool room in the back, broke down juke box with Steve Earle and Charlie Daniels songs, and big screen TV's with "Monday Night RAW" every day of the week.
