v2 or ultimate?
« on: February 08, 2005, 08:52:05 PM »
i recentally joined a new league with semi heavy oil but with a clean backend. My particle ball revs up too early and hooks and goes brooklyn, and my other equipment isnt any better (thats becasue all i have is particle). I was recomended the v2 sanded because it has been out for a long time and has a good reaction on med-heavy oil. But many people in that league are throwing the ultimate inferno and producing good scores. Any pros or cons from any users out there as well as recomendations as to which is better. I ususally play straight up 2 arrow, maybe swing it 3-4 boards, but am willing to play the hole lane and hook out of the house. I am just afraid that in the first game of the fresh backends it will over hook and i will have to play deep until i get cary down, which i would prefer not to do. 16 mph avg speed, inbetween a stroker and a tweener, i dont ahve cranker hand, but not stroker either. The stuff i am using is a throttle up, sharp blade, saw blade (i know all particle, but i didnt pay for 2 of them FREEBIES)I was told that if i were to get either of these that i would want to put polish on both so it goes a bit longer of the fresh backends.
so any recomendations would greatly be appreachiated

I'd actually recommend a nemesis, polished up if need be.

What about a V2 Strong/R - isn't that more of an equivalent to the UI than the V2 Sanded?

V2 Sanded, a very nice ball. Still has some punch with over 500 games no resurfacing. I've polished mine and use it for medium to medium light now but it did hook a good deal in its sanded state. Very versatile which is why it has been on the market for 5 years, I think. For your style, down and in, the ball is the best. I find that I get the best results out of it on that line. Plus, you can find one cheap as it is a mid price ball whereas the Ultimate Inferno is $200+.

haha, sry about that, it might have to do with the fact that the sanded is a more versitale coverstock, not that i know much about the strong/r coverstock. But just out of curiosity, what did ur strong/r do?

Got to agree...while their isn't a ball out ther like the UI, you really can't go wrong witha V2!!  I've had my fair share of them and it was the first ball I bought when I decided to drop to 15lbs.
