800. Shows consistency. I've seen many a hack luck up for 300 (hell I've been the hack to luck up for 300)...... but consistently lucky throughout the night doesnt happen very often. Its harder to shoot 800. I've got 8 total 300's (3 sanctioned), no 800's. 

I have neither 300 or 800. I would take an 800 series over 300 game any day, in fact when I show up for the night to bowl I hope for a record 3 game average of 267 but I don't think about it.

The closest I came to an 800 was 775. Shot 279, 279, 217. 3rd game got started and had a quick front 4 then 1 wheel fell off. Thought okay I can still do this after a weak 7-10 leave, couldn't recover after that.

No honor scores or 11 in a row to my credit although I do have 11 in a row unsanctioned that was posted on the records board above the bar window from when I shot 290 on the Cheetah pattern during a summer league.

Ill take a 300 with the realization that an 800 is tougher.  300 is epic, you cannot do better....you are perfect.....

300 = perfection.  800 = being darn near perfect.  I'll take the 300 but 800 is a close second.

Definitely 800. I've had many more chances at 300 then 800, resulting in 3 300's and 2 800's. My first 800 I needed to shoot a high 280 game and left a 4-7-10 split in the 1st frame, I covered the split and went 10 in a row and shot 801. My second 800 series was 824 with a 297 last game. Funny thing is the house I bowled it at announced over the intercom my 297 game but said nothing about my 800! I even went to the front desk and said I just shot 824 and they looked at me like they didn't know what a 800 was , I couldn't believe it.

Anyone that says 300 should just quit bowling...

I think the average league bowler who has never bowled a 300 would rather have the 300.  It's easier to brag about a 300 than an 800 to someone who does not bowl.  People outside of bowling are really impressed when you tell them you've bowled a 300.   

Now, I think as you get further along, and you average higher, I think you get a better understanding of just how hard 800 is.  I personally think that 800 is more prestigious and is much harder to accomplishment than a 300. With that said, why would you want one rather than the other when every night you go bowling you should want to shoot both each and everytime?
