So it's time for some new shoes and I really like the look and quality of the 3G ultras but one issue. The ring of material that is around the outside of the Velcro sole really affects how I slide. I had a pair of these before and couldn't find a combination that worked and ended up giving them to a friend. So my question has anyone ever attempted to remove this outer ring of material and just use dexter slides with these shoes? I figure a good cobbler could do it for sure but just wondering if it is easier than that. Any input?
HOW does it affect your slide?
too little or too much? or what?
I don't use the full soles. I use the one that allows you to put cleats or inserts to adjust the slide. Small 1 1/8" disc with hook n loop (velcro) on them. I use my own teflon discs of different friction levels to get the slide i want/need.
I also went to the local show repairman (cobbler) to have him remove the rubber sole on the non-slide shoe (right) to replace it with leather. I shuffle and can't use the rubebr sole. It does affect the integrity of the shoe. I have need to re-glue it several times in the past few years. So be very careful in what you have the cobbler do. I'm not saying not to do it; just talk to him about it before committing to it.
