Bowling in pain
« on: November 11, 2004, 10:00:43 AM »
Since last season I have had this pain in my right hand, lower left palm near the wrist. I took someone's advice by taking Aleve about two hours before bowling; it worked for a while but it came back before the season was over. Took six weeks off during the summer and it went away completely. Now it hurts once in a while as I bowl. Any recommendations as to any medications to reduce pain or exercises to strengthen my hand?

If it went away when you weren't bowling, I'd be thinking about checking the fit of the ball.  Not sure that is it, but might be something worth looking into.  I had the spans changed on all my stuff a few years ago (gradually, not all at once), since too long of a span was creating pain from my wrist to the elbow.  Now I have no problems.  Hopefully it is something simple like that and not anything that will derail your game.  Also, it might be worth seeing a Dr.

Hello Bass
I have the same type of problem. My wrist gets sore from bowling.
But it does not have anything to do with the grip.
Have you ever had your hand checked for tendon shearing ??
Other wise know as Carpal Tunnel(spelling) ???
I work with computers all day and then bowl and the wrist is just a little stiff after a night of bowling.
Something you might want to look into ??

Best investment for wrist pains & other arm pains. I used to have a bad wrist pain too including carpal tunnel, but after using this 5 min. a day, it went away.Been bowling better since.

Can anyone recommend something strong for pain? I had some anti-inflammatory pills whick I took for my right foot a few months ago but I ran out and no refills. I can't just go and BS with my doctor saying I need more Besides Aleve Bayer and Tylenol, what would you take if you had pain during work, bowling, etc?

Ozymandias,
Sonce Vioxx is now off the market, you might try Celebrex. Again,it is prescription so you'll need a visit to your doctor.
