How many more revs are we talking???
« on: February 28, 2005, 01:58:28 AM »
If I switch from a 16lb ball to a 15lb ball, I realize my ball speed and revs would naturally increase, but how much???

boom,

Your speed will definitely increase, however it will not guarantee your revs to increase.  They might, but not for sure.  I know when I switched to 15lbs. around 8 years ago, I gained about 1 1/2 mph in speed, but there was no noticable difference in revs.  I have seen the same for several other people.

true, it depends a lot on your style and release. I know for a fact if I switched to say 14# (I throw 15) I would get a lot more revs, but thats because I have bad style and hit up. If you have a smooth unmuscled swing and release not a whole lot will change.

You know what...  Since when is speed going to increase?  Gravity actually works in your favor with a heavier ball coming out of your back swing.  A heavier ball also maintains it's speed better.  Unless you move faster on the approach with a lighter ball you're speed is NOT going to be affected.

Revs may increase though.

Speed increases for people who muslce their swing, which in my opinion is a LOT of people.

So will the ball hook more, or will the increase in sppeed negate the additional revs???

NORMALLY the speed will make up for the extra revs, so unless you keep your speed around where your at now, and put more revs, it wont hook more.
