finger grips

what are the pros and cons of using grips? I currently do not use them, but wonder if I should try them. Let me know your opinions..

I like them as a comfort thing. i find them more comfortable and give me a more consistent release. I know others who are the opposite.

If you are comfortable not using them. I would suggest to continue they way you are with out them.

Grips tend to wear and have to be replaced periodically.

If you really want to try them take an old ball that you don't use anymore and try it on that ball first.

mhhh.... I use vise grips and these I use for one year by now... and they did wear off.. but that is minimum to nothing.

why I use them:

It is just more comfortable and I use the Visegrips with the "power lift" and I believe they give me slightly more revs and a stronger release... but that is more a believe than a truth....

Just have a try and you will see...

Would agree with this. To me it is more of a comfort thing. Get an old ball put them in and see if you like it...

I have a used blue/green centaur that I need to get fitted for myself. I think I will see about trying them on this ball to start. If I don't like them, I will have to get the ball plugged and re-drilled, anyhow.

In my opinion, and this is just from switching 2 weeks ago to NO inserts,

1. More consistancy in my release.
2. More even with the breakpoint.
3. My arm stopped hurting.
4. I don't "hit up" anymore.
5. If I do hit it harder it does not hang on my fingers and consequently overreact hitting the headpin dead on.
6. I don't have to buy anymore inserts and therefore have more money to spend on balls, leagues, bags, ETC.
7. No more unwanted loft.
I am sure there are more but thats all I can think of now....

When I got back into bowling in 2001 (16 year layoff) I started using finger grips. A couple of years ago, and the behest of my shop guy, I went back to no grips and will never put them back  in. In my opinion, I have a better feel for the ball. I feel that I squeeze the ball way less than I used too. I also feel that I come out of the ball cleaner than I did. Just my $.02 worth.
