50 ft TOC pattern
« on: July 06, 2009, 02:11:36 PM »
I am gonna be bowling on this pattern tomorrow in PBAX league. I got a chance to practice a little on it today and was looking for a little advice from anybody with a little experience on this pattern.

I had a pretty good look going 20 at the arrows to about 15 at the breakpoint with a NVD. The problem is it didn't last very long. The midlane just seemed to fry very fast. I found that I couldn't get the ball past the 35 feet unless I threw it a touch further outside and then it just skated. I tried moving left but I was still struggling to find any kind of consistent look. I tried other balls with the same result of an over/under situation.

I put up decent scores one 210 game and 2 190 games a 180 and 160 game. Just nothing great after the 210 in the first game when the mid-lanes started going. Anyone have any suggestions for the transition tomorrow when it counts??

What type of surface are you bowling on?  Wood, guardian heads, synthetic etc..

I am sure the pattern will a little different, especially if bowling with different bowlers.  Try starting further right, you are really traping yourself by playing too deep to start with.  Ideally you want to make a "burn" spot on the lane, and bouce it off there to create some area right.

Another option would after watching the ball check up early, switch to a ball with a harder cover.
