50/50 simple green cleaning

Whats the mixture I have seen some talk about and what is the procedure to cleaning. I have a cell pearl that I've thrown for about a month and would really like to maintain it. Thanks

Some just use 50/50 simple green and isopropyl alcohol.  Some add water as well.  I normally use 50/50 or just straight isopropyl if I am out of simple green.

I mix in a windex bottle,1 part S.G. 1 part H2o and a 10% acetone.in another bottle I have H2o to rinse the ball after cleaning with the S.G.

The isopropyl is a must though because it helps the mixture evaporate and leaves the cover nice and tacky.

Yeah right. what's this ball death I keep hearing about? 15 years of bowling I have not yet experienced this "ball death".
I've also used ABC approved cleaner that would melt the rubber gloves I was using. 10% acetone won't do any harm IMO.but you can skip the acetone if you want.

I wouldn't assume it would cause ball death but it can soften the cover and I have heard of people killing the reaction when they accidently used an all purpose cleaner with acetone.  Plus like I said it's also against the rules set by the USBC.  If you don't care about any of those things then by all means use it.  I would rather be safe than sorry and there's a lot of good cleaners out there that work better and are made for bowling balls.  Most approved ball cleaners main ingrediant is isoproyl alcohol.

that's fine,can you tell me what was in Neo-Tac Hook It? that's the stuff that would melt the rubber gloves.
I've also used other USBC/ABC approved ball cleaners on my spinner that would soften the cover,my mixture doesn't soften the cover,won't even melt the windex bottle that it sits in.not like I was soaking a ball in a drum of acetone.it's the only way I can clean belt marks and white scuffs from the pins,Iso won't clean marks and just smears the oil around,IMO

No idea what's in it that would cause it to melt rubber gloves... I have never heard of that happening.  Maybe it doesn't agree with latex who knows.  There are a lot of cleaners that take off belt marks that I have tried.  Powerhouse was good, Remedy RX is good...

I agree that's why I just use 50/50 simple green and isopropyl or just straight isopropyl.

Remedy Rx will take off belt marks and what ever else is on there.  It also leaves a great tacky feeling.

I use 50-50 Simple Green MAX and isopropyl alcohol. Max is available at auto parts stores.

I agree that's why I just use 50/50 simple green and isopropyl or just straight isopropyl.


I've even used just simple green and water with good results.I used to use clean n dull until I melted a cover and had to re do the finish.if I soften up a cover on the spinner with my current recipe then I'll dump it but I've been using it for a long time with no problems.
another question.How can these ball cleaners b USBC approved with out listing any ingredients?is it just a pay off to the USBC?shouldn't the public know what chemicals they are using?
