Title: 6 Ball Bag...Are They Worth It?

I've been bowling alot of tournaments lately and having to roll in a 3 ball bag and 2-2ball totes is getting to be tiresome. So is it worth it to get a 6 ball bag, or would a 4 ball bag and a 2 ball tote be the ticket? If I got the 6 ball bag, I could always take one of the two ball bags off for just league nights to make it easier, and than add it back for the tournaments. Does anyone own a 6 ball bag, and if so, your thoughts?

KR 3-4-5 roller. Done. I would combine that with a vise 3 ball clear top bag, and have 8 balls at your disposal. IMO, 6 ball bags are large and bulky. Just my opinion.

I'm not a fan of the 6 ball bags, they are too large and heavy, I always just roll with the 3 ball roller totes and/or 2 ball totes depending on how many balls i'm bringing.

i would agree on the 3-4-5 K-R bag -- i also believe the 6 ball rollers are just too big. i currently have a K-R 3 ball roller, and i use a 2 ball bag. but my next purchase will be the 3-4-5 K&R.

Consider a four ball bag and two ball tote. I have a hammer four ball and ebo two ball toe with a storage compartment. I put the tote on top of the bag and roll both around. Loading and unloading is a breeze because the top bag unsnaps and lifts off of the four ball bag. You can put it back on and use it without snapping the straps back together. Also You can carry a single with or instead of the two ball.

I go with 2x 3 ball totes. One with a detachable shoe compartment and a zippered pouch while the other one is just a plain 3 ball. Its lighter, fits in any car and I can fly with the exact same bags.

I thought about using a 4 ball bag and a 2 or 3 ball tote. But than I started thinking that for a few bucks more I could just go 6 ball bag. Using the full 6 for tournaments plus a 2 ball tote, and just taking off one of the bags and using it as a 4 ball bag for leagues. But, now I'm thinking a 4 ball bag, and a 2 or 3 ball tote. Thanks for the opinions guys.

Gunny, 3 or 4 ball bag with 2 ball tote... 6 ball bags are just to bulky...

However.........if you can find one, An Ampac 6 ball roller is quite compact. I picked one up used off of ebay before the summer started and de-conveted my 6 ball kr bag back down to a 4 ball for leagues and use the 6 ball for traveling. The ampac bag takes up a bit less space than the typical 6 ball bags, and so far has worked well when I have used it. Of course the hard part would be finding one.

That is true....I still remember one of my bowling partners who had that bag...
It was a sunday Morning... it was 20 degrees out and snowing...And the wind chill was about zero...
And he was out there in the parking lot trying to put his 6 ball bag together...
He almost frooze to death...lol oops
Of course you guys in Florida probably would have that problem...

I use the Storm Rolling Thunder 6-Ball Bag. I had a 3 ball roller, but you had to lift all 3 balls at one time to put it in the trunk. I much prefer the 6 ball. With the 3-4-5 ball optional, you still have to lift too many balls at one time. 6 balls are heavy, no matter what configuration you use. I only take 4 balls to league, but I have the other two balls whenever I go to a different house.

Furthermore, you dont want to be "that guy" clogging up the concourse area with that 6 ball bag albatross. Knocking over tables, knocking over chairs, dragging other bowlers bags, etc Do you really want to deal with that?

Also, the 6 ball Storm Rolling Thunder rolls much better than the narrow in-line rollers. Any little bump in the sidewalk, and they will twist and flop around in your hand. I have the equipment I need in a place I can get to it. I would rather have it all together, than try to figure out if what I need is in my blue bag or the other tote that just got moved into the corner.

So is it okay to walk into the center with a KR 4 ball bag and have double ball bag over the shoulder, but someone wheeling in a 6 ball bag system ......Well that is just improper in the bowling social circle.
Anybody owning one must be PBA wanna be CLOWN!
Bowling is the only sport I know that you can't do specific things related to the sport. If you do, you are considered in this case a clown.
Can't have a six ball bag.
Can't wear any type of shirt with any kind of PBA Logo, or any other ball manufacturer logo.
Can't have any wrist device.
Can't have any type bowling tools with you.
About the only things you can have are 2 or 3 balls, a Rosin Bag, a Dirty old towel, and a arm band. Anything thing else you are just PBA wanna be clown!
Now golf, hunting, and fishing its okay to own or wear anything you want.
With Golf, you see guys with high end golf bags, you see them with special clubs, you see them wearing hats, shirts, or shoes with all kinds of logos on them.
7 years ago in my local bowling center, I used to watch guys, shoulder a 3 ball bag that had wheels on it. They refused to be seen wheeling in their bowling balls, because "real men" carry them. It is common for these guys to wheel in their bowling bag now. Bowlers can be some of the most sensitive people out there. I still know bowlers that refuse to buy a plastic spare ball (even though it would help their game tremendously), because their bowling buddies don't have one.

The issue for me is not acceptance. It is convenience. As I have gotten older, it seems more difficult to lift the four and six ball bags in and out of the truck.
A man was only meant to carry two balls at a time. More than that, real men roll them around.

I would never bring more than 4 to a league, even a sport league, but considered a 6 ball roller for the same reason someone mentioned above. Take 4 to league, but have 6 available for tournaments. Unfortunately, the ones I've seen don't let you remove the middle section and put the top bag (complete with show compartment...) directly on the bottom. You can only remove the middle section and leave a huge gap which is bulky and stupid looking. I guess there's a shelf or something that the top bag sits on?
Anyway, as far as the concourse is concerned, to me 6 balls is 6 balls. Personally, a 6 bag roller left assembled takes up less floor space than people with multiple 2 or 3 ball bags. Normally they spread the bags out all over the place which creates trip hazards. At least you'll see the huge 6 ball roller.
Again, maybe because I'm getting older, but I don't want to lift more than 2 balls at a time. I had an in line 3 for a while but was glad to get rid of it. The 3-4-5 sounds like a good idea, but lifting 50 pounds awkwardly into a trunk isn't my cup of tea.

I don't care about appearance, I'm not there to find a date nor care what people think of me if I have a 6 ball bag. I'm looking for the convenience of not having to carry in 2-2 ball totes, plus roll in a 3 ball roller. Not too mention all the space it takes up on the floor. A 6 ball bag may be tall, but its just as wide as a 4 ball bag.
I've seen a few guys at these tournaments with fold up wagons, carrying 4--2 ball totes. I don't want something that bulky, but it works for them on not having to carry in all those totes. But now if you cant remove the middle bag and drop the top bag down on a 6 ball bag to just bring 4 balls, than that pretty much eliminates the 6 ball bag. I want to be able to use it as a 4 ball bag for leagues, than add the third bag for tournaments.
Of course, I could just keep using the wife unit to keep carrying in bags for me, but having a mad woman in your presence is never a good thing.

I have 2-ball totes, 3-ball rollers (900G and Vise), a 4-ball bag (KR), and 6-ball bags (Ebonite and KR).
For transporting lots of balls, I like the 6-Ball bags. Especially in Reno where you're walking long distances, a 6-ball roller is easier on the body. And they make for cleaner ball storage in the garage, especially if you're a ball whore.
For tournaments where I'm cross pairs after each game, I like the stand up 3-ball 900G for carrying balls and other stuff. Isles are generally too narrow and crowded to navigate 4-6 ball rollers. And personally, I don't like constantly throwing a 2-ball tote over my shoulder. That gets tiresome over a 10-game block.
For weekly league, I like the 4-bag roller, and if I need to carry more (rare), I'll bring a 2-ball tote along.
As always, evaluate your personal needs and bag up accordingly.

I use the 3 ball Global 900 bag with dual urethane wheels and it never tips. Best rolling bag I have ever seen and I have tried about all of them. I have the 900 Global add a bag for my spare and extra SG thumbs. It comes off and goes directly to the seating area. When I go to tournaments I pack a tote and am rolling in with 5 balls plus my spare.
Went through quite a few comonations over the last few years and have found that this is by far the best system yet. 4-6 ball bags get too bulky and heavy to lift. They take up too much space especially if you're running late and everyone is all spread out already. And it annoys the hell out of me to catch everything up and down the center as I am walking through.

I have a 3-4-5. Its versatile with local bowling. Usually only take 3 or 4 balls with me to league. When it comes to tournaments, I take 9 total with me. 5 in the main bag, and two 2 ball totes.
The 6 ball bag system definitely can have its advantages, in tournaments. You are wheeling 6 balls, and carrying none.
