6 ball bags

Of those who have them, do you like them and if you used them on a plane trip say for nationals, where they pretty good?  I would hate to buy one, and then turn it into a really big boat anchor.  I have 16 pound equipment, and would like to get away from 3 ball bags since the weight limit has gone into affect harshley.

Mine is pretty much a door stop. I use it for storage mostly. Except tourneys almost never goes to leagues with me. Just a little rough getting it in the trunk and out. I wish I could find a 4 ball roller cheap enough to buy.. I would use one of them.....

Yeah....I do not think the 6 ball roller is a very good idea, personally.  I think it is too heavy to roll around.  I have a good 4 ball roller and 2 ball tote.  If you are a 6 footer with a little meat on your bones, maybe the weight of a 6 ball roller might be more tolerable.  But, I am only 5'7" 135, so I am barely taller than the roller itself.  My opinion, go with a 4 ball roller and a tote.

a six bal bag full of stuff weighs just as much as you do
I was looking into the six ball bags.  Don't they break down like the four ball bags.  I have a storm four ball bag and it can be broke down into a two ball bag, and a two ball wheeler tote.  I thought you could do the same thing with the storm 6 ball.  Break it into 3 two ball section to make it easier to put in the trunk, or just carry4 balls with you to league.

Even a four ball bag is rough when you drive a compact car.  I'm like Two Hands in size and I have to battle the equipment to get it in and out of the car.  I couldn't even think about getting a six ball bag because I wouldn't be able to move it........

I could probably tie it to my bumper and drag it to the lanes

Of all the 6 ball rollers the easiest to use is the least functional as far as travel goes.  Used a Donkee Pro for several years and on the lanes it's the easiest to swap balls, (leaving those silly covers at home.) Takes up the least amount of space in or around the bowlers circle and the newer ones are just about bullet proof.  Biggest knock is that they are not PBA approved and you can't use them on the lanes at any sanctioned regional tournaments.  The ABC is ok.  The other is the cart doesn't "compress" so it's like carrying around a hand truck.  Super strong though...

This year it was finally showing it's age and I was looking at replacements.  My son just picked up an Ebonite 6 ball roller.  Nice bag but, full it is a handful.  Another problem on that bag is access to the bottom 2 balls.  You have to disassemble the whole thing to get at them!  Big pain...

Myself, since I almost always take 6 balls to the lanes but usually only go in with 4, I decided to go with the 4 ball roller and the 2 ball tote routine.  Picked mine up from Visionary but it is made by KR and I like how it breaks down.  The bottom 2 balls are easy accessible and it has a bunch of pockets.  Between the roller and the tote I ran out of stuff before I ran out of places to put it!  Had to go and get more stuff!!

The one thing that I wish this 4 ball roller had was the larger wheels that is on the 6 ball roller.  Plenty strong but you have a little more clearance with the larger wheels.

Pye, I went against getting Ebonite's Arsenal 6 because their website didn't mention anything about how the bags loaded.  I figured by them not mentioning it there had to be a catch.  

This summer I got Storm's Rolling Thunder 6.  True it's heavy when it's loaded, but it was easier to pull around than I thought.  It's been a great way to transport my arsenal to summer league while I get use to my new 15# equipment.  It's very easy to get to all 6 balls:
  • Top bag:  Top loading (can also double as a tote)
  • Middle bag:  Side-loading (has a latch on top that holds it on the roller)
  • Bottom bag:  Front-loading (can't pull this one off)
It collapses very well for it's size...the handle will collapse down to about 18-20" if the top 2 bags are off (at least mine does that).  Because of that, I can get it in the trunk pretty easily.  Time consuming yes, but it's just until the fall league starts.

It has pretty good storage:  5 compartments on the top bag, 1 in the middle, 2 on the bottom (in front and right underneath the zipper inside)

I've never taken it on a plane so I'm not sure how it would handle it.  

I'm not going to carry 6 this fall since my new Deuce can handle the oiler conditions at the house I bowl at.  I'll wind up leaving my Mutant and Addiction at home in the middle bag and carry the top and bottom on the roller with my Deuce, Target Zone, and the 2 Executioners when I have the money to order them.

Overall, it's a good bag...I just wish I didn't live in a split-level townhouse .

I have a six and a four but rarely use them.I find it easier to use a good three ball and two ball totes(the kind with just enough room for the two balls.

The three ball is easy to maneuver and I just toss a two ball over my shoulder.I also found a one ball bag form Storm ($10)that straps to the extended handle of the three ball that lets me walk in six balls without an escort to hold the doors for me.Once in the three takes up little space, the single goes inside and the tote goes down on the lanes for easy access and quick move if your crossing lanes.

A worse comes ta worse,just use two 3-ball
roller bags.

I do,one for each hand!Its much easier for me.

I have five of these 3-ball rollers and a 2 ball late 70's
suitcase carrier too!!

One of my FUN problems is deciding which balls to bring.let alone what to carry them in.

Haaaaay,didn't the post above  mine mention something simaliar,

From what I keep hearing about those that have flown with bowling equipment, you would probably have some overweight charges on a 6-ball roller.

I haven't flown anywhere with bowling equipment since 9/11 but I have heard the horror stories of people that tried to fly to nationals.

Well, Im 6'1" and weight about 220.  the weight of the bag doesnt bother me, what bothers me is that when I use it to check in say on a airplane, can I break it down to 3 bags, and wont have to worry about the weight issue? After looking at the 6 ball brunswick bags, they mention that they do. I'll probably only use it for that purpose, only untill my 3 ball bags decided to give up.  I drive a big chevy silverado, so storage doesnt bother me any.

Strapper...it isn't just a weight issue but also the limit on number of bags issue- some of the airlines have gone to one carry-on and two checked bags.  Anything else pays an extra fee.  If you are looking for air travel compatibility, you might want to call around and remember that they are not apt to loosen the guidelines anytime real soon.

Stick with 3 ball rollers and/or totes.
You'll have extra weight charges with almost everything else.
If you go with a 4/6 ball roller that breaks down you'll get nail with 2 pieces of luggage for it.
Don't use you best bags for flying anyway.
They'll become your worst bags VERY quickly.
