I know I'm a senior...
« on: October 01, 2007, 03:36:27 AM »
but...

If you watch this video...

http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=dM7OS8bVIjo

they only show FLUSH balls striking...

Using various oil length/patterns...

Every ball that is flush STRIKES...

every ball that misses BP, LEFT or RIGHT...

Does not strike....

SO WHAT MAKES THIS BALL (or any ball) SPECIAL?

ALL BALLS CARRY FLUSH HITS,LIKE THEY HAVE IN THE VID.

Why not show the ball carrying OFF-HITS?

Is my thinking flawed?

whoa whoa whoa guys....i film what i see...i don't doctor the results or LIE to sell bowling balls...i have no need to...i dont get paid to do these videos...by showing you the misses right and left im hoping this will show you the true nature of the ball being thrown...

one day ill figure out a ball reaction video that makes everyone happy...

first you didnt want all strikes, so i threw in some of my misses...fair enough i agree with that one!

Now you are critiquing my strikes?  Do i need to try and get more "miss hits" as you call them to carry to show what a ball can truly do?

One day i'll figure bowlers out

Britton,

I didn't mean to infer that you were lIEING or doctoring vids.

I like your videos, and think they could be even better...
I could have picked someone else's videos for this post, but I picked your vids because they are good...a side / rear view of a bowler's release would/could add some more information...would make it easier for a bowler to judge a ball.

Sorry, if I offended you...didn't mean to.

I appreciate your work.

I just think you need to show EVERY shot throw with a particular ball, that way people can sell for themselves ALL of the characteristics of said ball, as in length, recovery, and so on when you throw a not so good shot. Didn't mean to downgrade you, I guess I could have worded it better.

How many bad shots do you truly want to see Rev-O...some of my strikes are miss hits at the bottom, miss at the breakpoint, off balance at the line etc. etc....i don't sugar coat it...i don't just put my perfectly executed shots in these videos...

some of these balls i really have to try hard to miss on the THS...watch my OGRE SS video i had to send one OUT and quick to get it to hang out there....

the line that gets me is this

quote:
Duke,
They have to do something to get that stuff to sell, and lying must be the easiest way?

Rev-O

i am sick of hearing people say i lie, cheat, steal, whatever to help sell bowling balls....i am NOT that type of person and to be called that really irritates me...

i have no allegiance to one company...i do not favor one company over another...i am providing a service to the bowler and pro shop out there FOR FREE to see the latest and greatest from different companies in video form...i spend hours of my life filming, editing, answering questions, etc....

I enjoy the constructive criticism but to call me a liar (weather it be directly or indirectly) is ridiculous....

Regardless, thanks everyone for the comments and ideas...i enjoy hearing them and will try to incorporate as much as i can to make these videos even better

Sorry im done ranting now....

And Duke, no offense taken...you are a respected member of this site and i understand some of your points...bowlers are just a frustrating breed...

Take like a 5 minute vid and show every shot from that vid, don't just edit in the strike shots. Personally, I can tell that no 2 balls you threw in your vid were identical. You had a good 8-10 boards of area.

I think in this day and age of technology, Staffers or pros could easily video themselves with new equipment on tougher shots say shark, viper, or just some flat hard pattern. It would definantly cause less confusion.

BINGO!

Is it bowlers talent and versatility? or
The GREAT WALL?
or His "Weber-like" foul line corrections?

etc....etc...

ok so a 5 min video no editing...

you want to watch me go through my preshot routine, make the shot...shoot the spare/re-rack if i leave something...wait for the pinsetters...repeat

you are looking at about 5-7 shots if i strike alot for a 5 min vid...without rushing everything...

and if i do edit whos to say i still didnt edit out the REALLY bad shots ...

trust me some of these balls (like the kinetic i threw, black widow pearl, the list goes on...) are what i call "breakpoint sensitive" on my THS test shot...you would be watching 5 min of 4's and 9's, and some washes with a few strikes thrown in...i know this isint true for all shots people will face with it...but OOB for me it didnt give me alot of miss room...that is why i SHOWED you the misses at the break point...

i take my kinetic to a different house i have all the room at the break in the world...and i know others will too...thats why i want to show someone who may not understand ball reaction the strikes with the correct entry angle (sometimes not so correct entry angle)...but i also throw in the misses so the more advanced bowler can see, hey this ball is a bit wild down lane...

maybe my thinking is flawed also i don't know...but what i've done has gotten me this far...

thanks for the advice tho guys...i will actually be taking some of these things into consideration for my future videos

Hey Bar, you did a fine job. Its nice to have a video comparison of the newer equipment. I dont get why everyone here is complaining -- but what else is new right? You guys complain if the bowler throws all strikes, complain if he throws in a few bad shots, complain, complain, complain...Appreciate that Bar has the initiative and patience to put up a quality video.

So I thank you Bar and hope to see more vids of yours..
