(PC = Post Coaching) I had the Ebonie Bowler's MAP about a month ago. Analysis of my game showed a rev rate of 345, ball speed off the hand at 15.73 and at the pins at 15.43. My PAP was 2" out with 0 down or up. The video showed that the rev rate was deceptive since a portion was the result of top spin.
The main problem was my pushaway going out too far and not downward soon enough. This made it like I was chasing the ball and put my non bowling are going way up to maintain balance. The fix was to shorten the outward movement and make it like pushing the ball over a bar and letting it drop. The non bowling arm is to push out to the right after the ball drops.
I have been working on it and my bowling scores have dropped dramatically due to my having to think about making the changes. My follow through became tentative and my accuracy fluctuated. Recently things have felt a little better.
Today was team event for LABA City Tournament. I had to come in at 194 and had already talked to my team about the drop in average lately. They didn't care, they just wanted to bowl and have fun. I think their attitude was a major asset, I didn't feel any pressure and just had fun. We were also on a pair with a great group of guys who were joking with us.
Game 1 I started with a double and ended with a turkey for a 203. Game 2 the lanes started to transition and I was slow in making the right adjustment, but finished strong for a 168. Game 3 I hit a string of 4 in the middle of the game and shot 228 for a 599 series.
Overall the ball was rolling well and my follow through is back. I didn't feel tentative at all. I realize there are going to be good and bad days, but it sure felt good to have 2 dueces in the set. I've only shot 1 200 in the last month.
Thanks for reading, I just felt a need to share
