Well some people like to enter tournys that pay out good or decent money.  One of my local houses has their annual No Tap tournament and you should see thet turnout.  People from other stated make a vacation just to bowl there.  And when they pay out for multiple jackpots thats how they attract bowlers to bowl. Plus its fun to bowl No Tap.  But hey thats just my "two cents".

I agree.

Our house has changed Monte Carlo to no tap. It is an attempt to draw in more people. Very few of the regular, good bowlers attend. Most of the "new bowlers" will only bowl a week or two a month or only bowl a couple of times a year. Very few if any have their own equipment and most aren't interested in buying any.

Most of us regulars bowled faithfully every week. Most of us buy a ball or two a year from the proshop and are constantly patronizing it for accessories. IMHO, the lanes are losing money by catering to the general public but crap, what do i know other than i save about $50 a week by not bowling on Saturday night.

From what I've seen No-Tap tournaments and leagues are for fun and they have pretty good turnouts as well, which is always good for the sport.  Just as long as people don't get too serious with them, it's pretty cool.  I practiced next to a No-Tap league all last summer at my local center and they had some guys in there that thought they were the stuff on the lanes and I would put them to shame almost every time I went out there.  It was pretty silly and not my intention but the looks on their faces after being unintentionally shown up was priceless.  They calmed down a great deal after that and the league seemed to be cool again.

Last summer one of the local alleys had Friday night no-tap on PBA Experience patterns. Much more interesting bowling no tap on a non-house shot, but most of the "good" bowlers stayed away from the events. I wonder why???

I think 9-pin no-tap is only a little metrosexual. 8-pin no-tap...now THAT'S gay!

That is your opinion.

I can remember using 9 pin no-tap when I was in a little slump to help me. May not work for everyone, but it worked for me.

The center I just started to work at here in Texas is at the end of the fall year (as we are currently in) has the leagues set to 9-pin no tap and MOST seem to enjoy it but there are a few that dislike.  Then again, these leagues I've worked so far have been lower average.  Myself, I'd have to agree 9-pin no tap is gay yes.

what's truly gay, is when you see someone practice no-tap.

Clearly all bowling is gay. Look at the returns. Balls are touching. Even in something as enjoyable as racks balls are touching. All gay!

I don't mind them, but I hate when PBA Pro/Am's use them and lay down a house shot.

My men's team puts a little different spin on no-taps.  If you throw what would be a no-tap 300, then you get $1 from each team member for that game.

Then, whoever has the most no-tap 300's gets $5 per man per half of season, and then the end of the year gets $10 from each member of the team.

As far as no-tap tourney's, I personally don't like them, but I do know some folks who do.
