Tuesday, 2/14, 4PM:
Just came back from watching "B" squad. Except for a few recognizable PBA names, most people were seriously lost. I felt so sorry for them. I almost couldn;t watch, but like a train wreck, sometimes it's so hard to take your eyes off a tragedy.

Voss, Duke, Machuga, Weber, Criss were their normal INCREDIBLE selves.

In the 3rd game of "B" Squad, after "A" squad bowled 6 games on fresh oil, Pete Weber was playing INSIDE the 6th arrow!.
- Voss and Kazimakis were standing in front of the ball return.
- Machuga was going up the 2 board.
- Surprisingly Walter Ray seemed lost.

- Saw Steve Cook bowling. Same old "Cookie Monster"; looks like he hasn't changed his game one bit since he and brother-in-law, Mike Aulby won the PBA doubles. He was off by a hair - leaving lots of solid single pin spares. I was kind of surprised by this also.

- Saw Richie Wolf - amazing release, lots of super smooth revs. He was scoring well +133 after 3 or 4 games. he was already at the 6th arrow, Oh, he's a lefty, in case no one remembers.

Richie Wolf?  Haven't heard that name in a while.  That guy used to have a ridiculously loose release, yet with good revs and rotation.  Always wished I could do that.  So I guess he hasn't changed much.

Looking forward to seeing the action tomorrow. I'm hoping to catch all the morning squad and part of the second. I'll post anything interesting that I see.

It was me I will admit, the lanes were so dry I couldnt even keep my super carbide bomb on the lane. I kept hitting the seven pin in the face but I thought to myself these balls hit so  hard I should be able to atleast carry by hitting atleast one pin. Well needless to say it didnt work like I had planned. Maybe next time i will try my trusty ol uranium.

Well have a good friend there.

Multi time regional champ and also just missed cut last year!
This year in prepping won a tourney on a US open shot for 5 games by being about 100 over and winning by 40???? about.

Typically the B squad (or 12:00 squad)first day has the scrabble.  Ie it is not reoiled after the early morning squad.  Tends to get very dry heads and carrydown.  Everyone gets to bowl on this 12:00 brutal condition once in the tourney

Last year he was about 13th after first day on this brutal first day B shot.  This year for him he said it was just brutal.  Bone dry heads and glistening backs.  He said..."I'm trying to remember if I had a double".

He had the pleasure of bowling on the same pair as Chris Barnes and next to Walter Ray and Norm Duke and could also see Machuga.

He said Chris Barnes was playing 6th arrow awesomely!  Walter was flat 10ing all day!  Machuga was awesome deep inside and on fire he said!

He is a wonderful sparemaker.  Another fellow I know that is a multi regional champ fared just as poorly!

Bottom line this is brutality like a reverse block but front to back feel of reverse!

It looks like if one is near 0 one has a great chance at first cut!

He said ability to play deep inside and be able to carry is a must at least on the 12:00 shot!

REgards,

Luckylefty
PS today he is near flat on what is the morning squad.  Notice how Walter is moving up very strongly!  The B squaders always do both second and third day!
Fresh shot both AM and PM squad!

Watch for Jason Weaver...  He bowled B squad...  was -50 or so after the first day, but has a real chance...and he's a PSU bowler
