Master Industries The Surface Master Bundle. Anyone try?
« on: March 19, 2014, 10:05:07 PM »
Anybody ever try the surface master bundle by master industries? Been wanting to get a ball spinner for some time now but funds are kind of tight. I came across this and was wondering if anyone has used it and is it worth the money. Looks kind of neat that you can use a battery operated drill also to sand or polish. It costs around $70 for the spinning ball cup, the disc holder, a polishing/cleaning pad and a 500 and  a 2000 abrolan pad. Or should i just keep saving for the real thing?

Looks like polishyourball.com product, which I have used...good for polishing, but can't beat using a real ball spinner!

I bought one of these a few weeks ago since I couldn't touch a decent spinner for less than 250 but at the same time it is a pain to do anything more than touch up work by hand. This was a great investment for my situation. I think a ball spinner works better overall but the surface master works just fine for what I need. It cuts my time significantly and saves my arm from the heavy elbow grease. My only complaints are that the spinner part where the ball sits is hard plastic and if I put too much force down on the ball with the drill it actually spins the ball across the plastic rather than spin the bearings. The other is a minor complaint but for some reason they chose to use a white polishing bonnet and when I use Storm step 2 it stains pretty easily. Other than that it has been a great investment for me. If you don't already have abralon pads, I would suggest getting more than just the 500 and 2000 that comes in the kit. Hope this helps.
