A 'pro cg' is simply a CG that falls out of the normal realm. This is generally in one of two ways, the CG is offset from the MB in either the left or right direction OR the Pin to CG distance is extremely short (ie. 1/2") or extremely long (ie. 5"). Depending on your positive access point, this can limit certain drilling possibilities or necessitate a balance hole. Also some 'unique' reactions, not generally seen by a ball, can come out of pro CG's.

For instance on my break pearl, the CG is offset to the right of the line from the pin to the MB. Being a lefty, with the MB kicked out to the left of the thumb, the CG falls in the center of the grip. The ball rolls and reacts in a completely normal manner BUT a CG offset to the right would provide different results (and/or necessitate a balance hole) for a right handed bowler.

A ball with a 5" or more pin to cg distance is a "Pro Pin" not a "Pro CG"

“Pro CG” ball is where the center of gravity (CG) ends up a certain distance left or right of the preferred spin axis (PSA). If you draw a line on the ball from the pin to the PSA, the CG marker must be 2.5 inches or more from the line to be categorized as a “Pro CG” bowling ball. Although a Pro CG ball is still a first line ball, it has limited drill options which require certain types of layouts.

“Pro Pin” ball has a pin distance 5 inches to 6 inches out from the center of gravity (CG). Still categorized as a first quality bowling ball, it has limited drill options. Anything more than a 6 inch pin out ball would be termed an “X-Blem” or second line product.

Also Balls are considered "pin in" if the CG to Pin distance is 1 1/2 inches or less and "pin out" if the distance is 2 or more inches

I stand corrected on short/long pins. Thanks Aloar!
