I recently switched from no grips to Vise grips.  I am sick of paying 6 bucks a grip at my shop.  Today I went to pick up a ball that had cracked out around the ring finger.  The grip was only about a month old in it.  When I picked it up I got charged 10 bucks for the plug work, which was fine, but then another 6 bucks for a new grip when the old one could have been reused.  Just had to get that off my chest...

My question is about the sizes.  I know that I take a 3/4 and a 25/32.  I believe my shop uses O/PO, but I use the oval side without the lift so could I use the P/O grips also?  Browsing the Vise website, they have a chart that is confusing me.  They have numbers at the top of the chart.  An example would be for the 3/4, they use a 6, and for the 25/32, they use a 7.  Is that just a sort of reference number to the sizes?  Last question...when ordering, do I need to specify the OD for the grips?  I believe my shop uses a 31/32 bit for my grips.  Sorry if those are dumb questions, but I just want to make sure I order the right sizes.  6 bucks a grip is a rip-off in my opinion.

Don,

The OD is standard, except for the MS sizes and VERY large size.

Yes, you, if you/they are careful, can use the other end of the grip, I'll sometimes use to non- P/O end for a spare ball, when a customer wants non P/O and wants to save a few bucks. Keep in mind, you have to clean off the insert and be careful taking it out, but you can "re-use" them.

The size chart is for their inserts, to me it's easier to have the number than the size on a customer's sheet, saves space, I'm old and lazy.

Hope this helped, and keep in mind, not everyone 're-uses" the insert, I may be alone in that area, just what I do, as long as the customer wants it.

Hey Deadbait...if you feel like paying almost 500% markup on something, that is your business.  I choose not to, which is my business.  You don't know a thing about me, so unless you have something positive to say, keep it to yourself.

Or, you could purchase grips online from Michael Cimba.  For around $4, you will get a slug and two inserts and it will be your own responsiblity to put them in.  The inserts, obviously, will be quite easy to replace.  The thumb slugs will have to be drilled out by your proshop.
