Best night yet on sport shot conditions
« on: August 03, 2006, 04:41:45 PM »
Last night was my final night for summer competition in my wednesday night PBA switch the shot leauge. It was also my best night!

Started out with a 164. Wasnt hittng my marks, not executing, and just not bowling flat out. Game 2 I made better adjustments got smoother, and get more aggressive. Shot 180. Game 3 I made a ball change and just started nailing my marks, shot 237. Game 4 I was fairly perfect, never missed the pocket. Frame 3 and 1st ball in the 10th I left a 10 pin, other then that I shot very well. Shot 257. I averaged 176 before last night, to finish out the summer season I made my goal to average 180 for the summer leauge. Ended up with a 838 4 game series. 209 average on the night. I was very proud of my self and it boosted my confidance lever up another notch. Thanks for reading!

Awesome bowling, Mike. It's cool to hear how enthusiastic you are!
Bowling on demanding sport conditions will make you so much better on a THS for the reasons that you bowled well the 3rd adn 4th game. Hitting your mark, and not relying on the wall are crutial to that kind of thing. I'm in the process of learning that too! lol.

Great bowling.

Mike,
Nice bowling...
I thought I was going to shoot my 1st 800 on Sport (Beverly),
last night.

We bowl 2 games and change lanes. Shot: 196-212-131-234. I have 2 weeks left, and my goal was 190. I'm at 187 after last night. The 131 killed me.

PBA or Sport certified, it's still great bowling.

Well the shot is PBA legal seeing the house I bowl at on Wednesday has the Chicagoland Open there every year. Bill Spigner lays out the shot each week for us too. For the one who said that this will cause my THS average to increase, that was only partially the reason why I joined 2 PBA summer leauges this summer. I wanted to get a real feel from my equipment so I know what the ball can really do on real oil patterns. Since I started this summer my roll has changed, my approach is alot smoother, I also realized how important it is to stay down at the line till the ball is past the arrows.

I dont see why I shouldnt be able to average 200+ this winter season. Thank you to those who have said Congratulations to me! (time to change my signature!)

I should also mention this. I started out my Wed. summer leauge with a 154 average. I got better everyweek there after. I had only 1 week where my average dropped 2 pins, the very next week I raised my average up those 2 pins I lost and then some. So to go from 154 to 180 (actually 179.9) I can not and will not complain.

(Wish Teusday nights were as successful. Started out with a 132 average, right now im hovering at around 160.)

IL,
Just to clear up the mystery - I work part time in the pro shop in your Wednesday house and I go over to practice several days a week.  They put down the pattern that they use in their Wednesday and Friday PBA shot leagues on the low end for practice and prebowling.

In years past, I bowled in the PBA Switch the Shot league, but I wanted to cut back on my league commitment, so I didn't bowl in it this year.

Finally, we probably have met at an ABT event at some time or another.  I'm out there quite a bit.

Should stop in this wednesday night. Last night of the PBA leauge. Im not sure when I will get back out that way. I was going to join a leauge this winter at hawthorn but because of the leauge times and travel distance, it just wouldnt be feasible. Plus I had a job out in Lake Zurich that made the whole leauge idea worth it since I drove by every day but I no longer work out that way anymore.

I'll be bowling in the Honest Abe Classic at Stardust tonight, so I won't be able to make it out to Hawthorn.

Good luck!
