grips
« on: October 04, 2008, 04:51:22 AM »
What are the differences in grips and slugs?   I recently had two balls drilled, one has a plastic sleeve the other is a slug.   I have a better release out of the plastic.

Also what difference do the grips make.   The ball that was drilled for me was drilled at 0 and I actually needed 1/8.   I was having distal digit pain from the original drilling.

What difference is there in power grips and vice grips etc.?

thanks

Slugs are solid.  Glued into the ball, flushed off and then drilled.  The others are exactly that, sleeves.  Pre Fabbed sizes in a couple different shapes.  Slugs are usually more custom.

Finger grips or thumb?  Looks like fingers to me.  Finger grips are all about feel, what feels good to you.  What I like may not be what you like, grips are another way to customize the feel of the ball.  USUALLY you can spin the ball a little more with grips.  As far as pain goes, if the pitch is wrong, then the pitch is wrong, grips or no grips.  Take that up with your driller, or find a pro shop PROFESSIONAL.

"power grips" are probably your local way of saying the lift grip or power lift.  Could be talking about the grip company Contour Power Grips.

"vice grips" or correctly Vise Grips are a major finger grip manufacturer.  They make grips in 4 basic shapes in 11 colors.

For someone that has bowled those high scores, you don't explain/ask questions very clearly.  Try to be more detailed so we can give more specific help.

BTW, Slugs Rule!!!
