Interesting league formats?
« on: February 11, 2014, 02:00:11 PM »
I'm trying to get a league started here, and have several ideas, but I'm sure most of you have even better ones.

One idea is a draft league.  I'm bowling my first year in a draft league, and even though we haven't done so well, I REALLY like the concept and the idea.  Now it could be a rough year if you get drafted by a team full of people you don't want to bowl with . . but if you don't want to bowl with them, most likely the feeling is mutual.  This can of course be combined with other league ideas.

Every week is a position round.  Sure, you might be bowling the same teams quite a bit, but it means that every single week is guaranteed to be important.  It means that the team on top doesn't stay on top by virtue of getting a shot at the lower teams in the league, and it also means that the lower teams in the league don't get stuck bowling powerhouses every week.  I REALLY like this idea.  You would start out the first few weeks just setting averages and then be "seeded" by total pinfall.  After that, who knows what could happen.

Team Baker/singles hybrid.  3 man teams, have 3 games of singles, each bowler bowling each other bowler from the other team once, also keeping team points, then have a 3 game team baker set afterwards.

Any other ideas?
What would you be if you were attached to another object by an inclined plane, wrapped helically around an axis?
