How often to do you ..... (multiple questions)
« on: June 28, 2004, 10:01:04 PM »
resurface or alter the coverstock on your ball?  How many games have you thrown before any noticeable difference?  Obviously lane conditions and bowler type have a lot to do with it, this I understand.  Which manufacturer (in your opinion) make the most durable balls?

Which do you prefer.. Particle or Resin?

Usually touch up the surface every 30 to 40 games and re-apply Doc's Elixir.

Varies with condition.  Most of what I do is proactive maintanence, not reactive.

From the little I've seen of the Soaker Coverstock I'd say probably Dyno-Thane.  However I also have a few Lane #1's and several Rotos that have held up for a long time.

Resin.

I do my complete surface prep after every three games bowled with the ball.  This is excessive by most peoples' standards, but it works for me.

I never let them go long enough to notice a difference.

Brunswick coverstocks seem very durable to me.  I'm starting to form the same opinion of the covers Ebonite is using on the Hammer line.

I like light to medium load particles for most conditions, with the surface tweaked to meet the need.

I resurface about every 200 games. At that point my carry percentage seems to go down some. I will resurface a ball up to 6 times.

I have had no problem with durability by any manufacture. However I do believe the high load particle balls can have a drop off in performance over time.

I prefer resin or very light load particle pearls.
