This has become an annual tradition with our Junior program. The leagues take a bye for the Thanksgiving holiday, but in place of league we hold a No-Tap tournament. As a side event, the kids get to Turkey Bowl.
When we were at Rocket Bowl they had a portion of lane bed that was used. Since we moved to Corbin there was no lane bed available so a lane was designed on the concourse using trash bags taped to the floor. It held up very well and the kids had a blast. The "lane" was about 6 - 8 feet and regulation pins were set up. I got to be one of the pin chasers and sometimes ball/turkey return.
What is really funny is seeing them try to hook the turkey. As they were bowling with the 12 lb frozen turkey, I started to think about reviewing different brands of turkeys. Which has the best pin reaction? Is Butterball better than Tyson?
Only 1 guttered the turkey (had it leave the "lane" surface before the pins, 3 struck, and several spared. There were also several splits. I may have to give it a try next year.
Anyone participate in such an event?
