A tear in my eye for Tommy Smallwood
« on: December 14, 2009, 06:30:47 AM »
I couldn't help but get choked up when Tommy Smallwood won yesterday. Watching the nervousness of his wife and the support she gave him to follow a dream after his unfortunate layoff from a good job. I actually saw myself on the TV when he was bowling. My wife has always traveled and supported my bowling and after going through debilitating Psoriatic Arthritis in my hands and knees I didn't think I could ever compete again. As of right now I am lucky to be able to bowl somewhat cpmpetetive with 14 lbs but Tommy Smallwood gave me the hope and desire to once again try to compete.

Congratulations Tom Smallwood. I watched you bowl for the first time in Cincy at the Hoinke Super and again when you dominated the Varipappa. You have proven yourself and are at the top of the mountain sir and I have to say...I am not surprised!!

You represent the journeyman player that only dreams of being able to accomplish what you did. I envy you for that..

Thanks for getting the fire burning again inside me.

Continued good luck, Beans, fighting off that disease.

I think Tom Smallwood won for many of us who always wondered if should have tried it ourselves. Watching him was almost like doing it myself. Thanks Tom, it was a great ride.

Did he shake Wes's hand after the match? If he did I missed it.

Yeah, they shook hands.  The camera was on his wife though.

That was a great win. Wes Mallot was lucky to carry those 2 brooklyns. I was rooting for the underdog. Might want to change name to Majorwood after that title. LOL.
