Why does some companies PARTICLE'S die quicker than others?
« on: January 20, 2004, 01:24:38 PM »
We all know about Columbia's TEC balls that died of "TEC Death" (I think they used silica particles for their proactice covers).

And also I think Ebonite's Particle covers die quickly.

But it seems that Brunswick's Particle's lasted longer than everybody else's - but how long do they last compared to everybody else's. But what about Lane #1's Particle covers... do they last a long time (aren't they made by Brunswick, and also similar to Brunswick?), or do they die out quickly?

I've got a THROTTLE and don't want it to die quick when I hit the 45-55 game mark... And I've just gotten a SUPER CARBIDE BOMB and I'm wondering if it will last longer than the THROTTLE? Even though I like the THROTTLE, if it's gonna die quickly I'd be better off just to get rid of it. I might just need to let the SUPER CARBIDE BOMB be my Heavy Oil ball if it is more likely to last longer.

The Throttle and SCB have a similar hooking potential... I can't tell much difference. Except for the fact that the OIL rings on the SCB flare all the way around the whole dadgum ball!!!!! GEEEEZZZZ!!!!! I'd say I'm getting about 18-25 inches of flare... lol...

Ric,

Check out BTM's July and Aug 03 issues regarding ball maintenance and lifespan.  Each manufacturer tells you their version on how to keep up the lifespan of their resin and particle balls.  At seminars a few years back, Columbia stated they used glass bubbles for their particle and Brunswick was using ceramic bubbles.  They may be completely different now...
