Would anyone be interested in bowling ball data that was consistent across all manufacturers. This data would be obtained by independantly evaluating each ball. Additionally, tools would be available to search through the data for specific values. If the concept goes well, additional tools would be developed that would allow for layouts, rev rates, ball speeds, patterns and other variables to help determine ball selection(s).
This data would be availble by membership perhaps for just $10-20 per year for individuals. Would anyone be intereste? If not, how could this be tweaked to provide more important data.
The problem I am trying to resolve is that ball companies dont speak the same language. Min/Max/Ave RG's, Diffs, Covers, ratings are specified by many different methods and values and it is difficult to tell anything about balls unless you are familiar with a manufacturer. Providing independant test results with standard ratings and definitions would help to understand where specific balls lies in comparison to others. This would help with choosing the next ball and reduce the risk of purchasing a ball that is not correct. Today many people simply tell the proshop operater and rely on trust. Trust is a good thing but not always the best.
