I look forward to my scratch league with both anticipation and dread.

The anticipation of a night’s competition starts almost a week in advance and builds to an almost fever pitch inside me by the time league starts. Since it is a travel league there is the anticipation of what kind of shot is present, how to adjust, who are we bowling, how will the approaches be, etc, etc.

The dread is that the competition will soon be over and I’ll have to wait another week to get my fix.

And my poor old team really isn’t very competitive in the league.

I look forward to my handicap league as well but nothing like I do my scratch league.

What a downer, I have another week to wait.

What else do you have to look forward to?  You don't do drugs or drink.  Your too cheap to pay for a little pill to help get your little friend to wake up.  So competition gets you high.

I may have to find a way to venture into that league next year.
