Our area has several local bowlers going out on the national tour to see if they can get exempt for next year. The general feeling is that because of the exempt tour it will be nearly impossible to get in after this year. Even if they don’t qualify they feel they will have a leg up in the qualifier tournament having bowled on the tour conditions for a season.

I know Tim Penner, Matt McFayden are going out and they have been bowling in several southwest regionals. I believe Nathan Bohr is going as well. They have all had a dream of being professionals and feel this is their last good shot, so it is take it now or never.

It looks like several of the stops already have PTQ’s so entries appear to be up this year.

I’m assuming that quite a few other bowlers around the country feel the same way.

Are you aware of others who are going to try and grab the brass ring this year?

Pinbuster,  Do you know Tim?  Tell him that the Hose said "Hey".  I met Tim through Steve Szabina a few months ago and he has a good game and is a great guy.  A couple of cats to look for from the Southwest are Chris Johnson and Wes Mallott.  Both these guys have game and CJ was 9th in this weeks PTQ.  I don't think Wes made it out this week.  I think his wife is expecting.

Hose. I know him well enough to say hi. We have bowled in the same league for the last 5 years or so. He bowls with his Dad who is a real wild guy and Matt.

Tim and Matt have similar games and I imagine they will room together.

Their team has traveled with us as a companion team to nationals the last 4 or 5 years as well.

Since they are starting this week I don't know when I will see him again but I will say hi for you.

Yes, a lot of people are going out from Michigan too.  I'd say at least a half dozen, maybe more.

I'm calling it now...Tom Smallwood from Flushing, MI wins Rookie of the Year!!!

One of the KU bowlers, Jesse James, is also going out on tour in January after he finishes his last semester.  I believe he probably knows Nathan, Matt, and Tim fairly well.

Just left the bowling center & watched both of the fore mentioned throw the ball in practice, also in the PTQ yesterday. They both seem to throw a real nice smooth ball. We watched McFayden more than Penner. Rather amazed to watch the big guys (pros ) struggle on this mornings shot.

Pardon me for going off-topic, but what's with the PTQ?  I read on pba.com that the PTQ's for this week and next were cancelled, everyone who signed up was in.

Is that not the case?
