ABC Rules help - Injury/surgery withdrawl
« on: October 16, 2011, 09:55:46 PM »
Bummer timing, but I've got to drop my scratch league and will undergo arthroscopic knee surgery on Wednesday. Tonight (Monday) will be my last night for at least 8-10 weeks. The league has dropped to 8 teams and has no real prize value, so it's not logical/to pay for 10 weeks just to hold a spot. Unfortunately, we haven't found a replacement.

Bad situation, but given that no replacement has stepped forward and I'm having surgery Wednesday, what is the correct procedure? Do I need to give two weeks notice, or something else?

Thanks in advance

Whether or not there's a significant prize fund, if it is a USBC sanctioned league, you need to give written (I think) notice to captain and/or president that you have to drop out. Your reason is more than good enough, to my mind. Without notice, you are liable for the league dues until the end of the season and they can get your sanction card reversed/withdrawn so that you can no longer bowl in sanctioned leagues. With the notice you are only liable for the next 2 weeks fees.
