Why do we have to be this way?

I've seen several posts lately about how honor scores are a joke, awards mean nothing, and people are rediculed for being proud and displaying their achievements be it patches, pins, watches or rings.  If you haven't read BK's post, it is sad that people beginning this game we all claim to love so much are rediculed and/or made ashamed of their personal achievements.

Instead of sneering at someone who is proud of their honor scores and smirking about it being on the house shot, why not congratulate them and encourage them to keep improving?  Wouldn't showing good sportsmanship be the gentlemanly thing to do?  If everyone's achievements are a joke, then why should anyone keep playing the game?

You guys can't see it, but i hate to say, if there is one thing i've learned from this site and everyone talking on here, that when somebody shoots a 300, yeah it means they did good, but it doesn't mean much.  I've already decided when i do shoot 3 or 8, I'm not going to bother posting it.

Bones - I wasn't trying to be unnecessarily harsh, and I wasn't trying to point fingers at anyone in particular, but I don't think it's right when people who have not shot an honor score already feel it won't mean anything (see AK57's post).  Maybe I could have worded it better, but if the only achievement that will mean anything is a PBA tour win, then what do the millions of us who will never make the tour have to strive for?

Now suppose I shot my 300's on a difficult pattern (hard patterns can occur in league you know).  Wow, guess my 300 is dirt because of weinie's basic assumption.
