pooh, I've tried that and as you've said every method possible. That method works well on certain houses but I was doing it to an area on the lane, not the dots to the arrows. When I tried it that way I was getting inconsistent speed.
The other problems I found with the dots past the foul line is the dots are not coordinated in any logic of certain boards that make sense unlike arrows which is every 5 boards. Then comes the problem on medium conditions where you are forced to play inside and are past the last dot ( which I think is the 13 board, can't remember) and then you have to point to the certain board in between the dots. Once you get deep enough and the lanes are either dry or a shot requires to play deep and tight, then you can play the left side of the dots but when it comes to adjusting in transition I found myself running out of the lane and instead of laying it over the dots I had to loft it or totally change the release.
Then the main problem arose at houses that have lanes that are dimly lit or even worse, a wood lane house. On a couple of wood lane houses including one I tried a sweeper at long ago trying the dots I couldn't really see them on the lane until my release.
