Absolute Power ?
« on: March 02, 2005, 12:31:57 AM »
Cant really find any reviews on this one except for the one by Buddies Bill on BBR.
Anyone thrown it and if so what do you think of it.
Im after a ball for med oil that can let me play a little deeper, with a good strong snappy backend.
I did like the look and sound of the Depth Charge and since I have an El Nino X-IT which is on its last legs, I thought this may be the one.
However my driller said that he feels that the Absolute would be better for me and who am I to argue as hes always steered me in the right direction so far.
Trouble is I cant find anyone whos tried it for this style.
Ive tried to get my profile as best I can but I have loads of swings on my comp if anyone needs to see exactly what I do.
Thanks for reading and hope you can give me a little info as you know prices in the UK are a bit steep and I cant afford a mistake on this one.

Well, I think it is a really good ball, but I'm still experimenting with it, as my home house rarely has enough oil for the way I drilled mine. I got mine because the New Standard and the YEah Baby were such good balls overall. I wanted something for the lighter oil I normally see. Not knowing exactly what to expect, I drilled it 4"x3.5", kind of very strong, pin next to the ring finger, CG kicked out about 1.5"; I really shouldn't have done this. I've added polish and it's still a very strong ball. When I fins enough oil at othe rhouses I really like it reaction: long but not super-long. With this drilling, its reaction is more like a hard arc; it acts more like a polished resin, than a pearlized one, which it's supposed to be.

It hits very hard, like all Legends/Lanemasters balls, mostly because the cover and the core match but also because it uses its premium resin all the way to the core, with no cheap resin fillers next to the core, as many manufacturers do.

In fact, I like it so much I just bought another one which I will drill much weaker, 5.5" x 3.5", pin over center of the bridge. That will make it much more usable on lighter oils. I am not sure how snappy this will be, so I can't commit on that until I drill it and use it.

My first one drilled the way it is, is more for true medium oil patterns, as far as I can tell.

Thanks charlest. Great info. Should be a nice ball for what I want.
My favorite ball( got to have one) is my Thing Returns but with the patterns we get its a little weak if theres any oil in the backend. So this should hopefully give me similar on a bit more oil.
Thats nice to know about the resin to the core. They always seem to hit harder and bounce the pins around better.
Thanks again.
