Sometimes this games just kills me.... My house has moved to a drier shot this season, and I've had to change balls to a less aggressive Jekyll from my usual Wired. Monday I shot very well after changing to the Jekyll, so Thursday I started with the Jekyll and the ball was hooking like crazy. I was having to stand on 20, throw across to 10 and out to 7 before the ball would come charging back but leaving 10 pins like crazy and then 7's on any light hits. I couldn't find a good carrying line!!

The third game I figured I would give the Wired a shot, and while I changed to a MORE aggressive ball AND moved outside, all of a sudden the ball is taking a nice controlled move to the pocket and kicking out all the corners that I couldn't do earlier!

How can a more aggressive ball allow me to play a more outside line AND carry better than a less aggressive ball? Just when ya think you have it all figured out....

I would giess it was something to do with either your release speed or angle or rotation?

but hey, I'm no specialist.

All I know is that for each of my balls, I throw them different.

Carry is all about angle so if you are getting better carry you are getting better angle and you know if it is really dry a urethane ball might help if you don't want to swing it out so much.

guzman, a lot of times if the majority of the players are inside, they are pushing the oil both sdwn the lane out to the outside. By getting outside of the tracked up area, you may be bale to go to a more agressive ball because of the way the oil has moved during the earlier games. The traditional always move left sometimes just doesn't work.

In thinking about your original problem throwing 10 to 7, and not carrying. You may have been even better off to get further left standing 25 or 30 and using a 20 - 10 line (or something likem that). It sounds like you were getting into the dry a little too quick, thus hitting a lttle to sharply to carry the 10.

For the first part of your post, read Ron's finger dancing tip. Works wonders for when you are hitting the pocket but not carrying.

For the second part, either there was more oil on that part of the lane, or maybe your other ball was storing too much energy and getting too much angle to strike. The stronger ball could be bleeding enough energy to carry better.

Thanks for the suggestions guys, and no it wasn't a reverse block. I'd love to say that's the reason I was bowling so terrible, but this was just more operator error
