ADVICE NEEDED!!!
« on: February 26, 2004, 07:55:55 AM »
If your PAP changed depending on which way you were playing the lane which PAP would you base your drill patterns off of.

Details:
When playing an up and in shot my PAP is over 5 1/2 and up 1 with 15°-30° axis rotation.

When playing a swing shot my PAP is over 4 1/2 and up 3/4 with 45°-60° axis rotation.

The reason I am struggling with this decision is that this occurance causes conflicting things to happen.

For example with the 4 1/2 PAP
higher ° of axis rotation = more skid
smaller track = more skid
more flare = earlier roll
less pin to PAP distance = earlier roll
(correct me if I am wrong on any of the above)

If you were in this situation which PAP would you use or would you base it in the between the 2.

drill one ball for down and in and drill one for inside out.

or drill them with low flair positions. Pin above bridge. you on;e have 1" difference. low diff balls won't matter much.

in reality I think most peoples PAP change somewhat so is there a difference of pin 4" to pap and 4.5" to pap? I think not.

there are three major pin placements near pap, in between and by track.

so a 5.5 pin will be lower flaring for both releases. and a 2" pin will be early flaring. about 4-3/8 will be higher flaring.

now it's a matter of where to place the MB/cg. pick you favorite. early, med lane, or backend.

between these you have 27 combo's. that' more than enough. pick one that works for both. my guess would be mb under or right next to thumb.
