It looks like I'm back on the bowling skid again. For two years I've struggled after the passing of my father. Then things seemed to be getting back on track in the last two months with the help from several people from inside and outside bowling. I was up in averages, spares %, and bowling was fun again. It was a long while since I shot 700's in the same week - it was getting exciting.
But now, the last 5 outings were all terrible after a good set at a house I struggled on the last time I bowled a match there. After that day, I really thought things were coming together....
I'm not sure if recent stress outside bowling (work) is part of the cause, or listening to advices from some of the guys playing coach at the alley, or me trying to get better quick, or all of the above. But it's really not looking good for me. Especially after the last two nights of leagues. One night I felt so mechanical and had no feel for the game. And last night, I just sucked. O/U reactions, 4 solid 9's, many ten pin leaves and bad feel/fit on the thumb - thumb swelling gets bad in these warmer nights. There's a positive thing I took home with me from these two nights of leagues, I missed only one single pin in the 8 games I bowled.
Anyway, a buddy of mine mentioned about stepping away from Leagues for a season after summer leagues are over. I'm really thinking about doing it. Take a long break only bowling during open play and maybe do some local tourneys. I don't want to risk getting burnt out or something like that. This is really frustrating.
