Ball Spinner! Innovative if you must ask. I plan to start using it tonight. Any tips? It includes an instruction manual and I have grit pads from 500 to 4000. The one thing I never thought of but it makes so much sense. They said something about:
"Under today's lane conditions, you should strive to keep the ball as shiny as possible while maintaining desired ball reaction."
I never thought of that. Basically they are saying a ball too shiny is FAR better than a ball that is too dull because the dull ball will hook more, hook early, hook out, and the result is far worse.

I was going to say a registration card so now all of your games can be legit. :P ;)

I used to be a firm believer in dull equipment. Polish used to give me fits with ball reaction. Today I can honestly say that polish is the best way to go. I started the season with a Storm Alpha Crux, a fairly aggressive bowling ball at box finish. What i was getting for reaction was roll out and burnt out reaction down lane. I wasn't seeing that reaction at first. Over the course of a couple weeks I started talking to my friends and they were seeing it and I was just being stubborn. Finally, about two weeks ago, I put a coat of polish on it and I basically have a brand new bowling ball. The down lane reaction is there and I finally see some scoring. I have actually been able to use the ball for a full set now and I am so happy with the results.

Cool. I didn't get to use it last night. I'm still reading the instructions lol. I will try it on my spare ball first. Try to sand out the scratches and put a super polish on it. It's been hooking 1-3 boards on 10 pin conversions and that is annoying.

Best investment you could make, IMHO. I picked up an Innovative about 3 years ago, and absolutely cannot do without it.
You might want to think about a 360 grit, just for those times that you want to resurface, and work your way up. Like to use it to cut as much cover to take out the deeper scratches faster.

Do you have it mounted to something? I plan to use it on my balcony floor outside. I know some people use it in their kitchen, but these people are insane. I plan to follow instructions and may just use like a 1000 grit pad on my spare ball. I don't want to use it and wind up turning my bowling ball into an oval lol!

Go to Walmart and get a rubbermaid storage tub.Get one deep enough for the spinner with a ball on it to be a few inches above the ball. Then you can use it anywhere in your house.Works great for me.just throwing that out there.

Cool. I'll look into that idea. Can't wait to see what happens to my old bowling balls. If it works how I think it should, it will almost be unfair for the competition because it will be like using a new bowling ball every month.

I have always done better taking the shine off the ball a little. But is there a way to get a ball to read earlier but still not lose too much for the backend - by using polish? Say 1000 surface, then some polish? Thanks! Also looking for a spinner...

This is what I have mine in, and it works excellent for containing any mess and also for storing your supplies. I cut the side out of a plastic flower pot and put the pot over the motor so it doesn't get wet, and I also have a foot-pedal switch that I plug my spinner into so I can turn it on or off with my foot while I'm using it. Not necessary, but a really nice convenience when you are working on a ball.
Just a thought, but your spinner will be probably be pretty awkward to work with if it is sitting on your deck floor. As a space saver, I have one of those fold-up plastic saw-horses that includes a tabletop, which gets the spinner at a nice workable height, plus it stores easily until you need it.

Put mine in this.

works great.
I use mine to tune and clean my equipment just about every week fro some touch up or another
clean n dull on a spinner is the best method I have found so far for cleaning

Get a spray bottle and sand wet, you don't want to breathe the dust or get it all over your house. -- JohnP

I have my ball spinner in a big rubbermaid tub. It's on a rolling rack, but it would be easy to carry too. The tub is big enough for your supplies, extension cord and the walls are tall enough to prevent any splatter.

Unless you have a workbench or something like it, go to Lowe's and buy a table called "Husky." The Husky table is lightweight and easily portable but has a weight capacity up to 400 or so pounds. The Husky table costs about $60.00, so beside your ball spinner, the Husky will be your next best bowling investment.

I built a basin into my work bench in the garage. The top surface of the bench I hinged to open up to reveal the spinner, or I can close it and have my continuous work bench. Custom built the whole thing with some scrap plywood from the original work bench build.
Lined the basin with some really thin plastic coated sheeting. has worked great for years that way.

whoa.. I do the same thing...
the old house that was built in the early 70's had a sink in the garage. I miss that house. Next to the sink was cabinets where I kept all my ball supplies and gear. to the left was my mini frig where I kept my refreshments and smoked salmon during this time of year lol....

+1 no splatter at all. Bonus you can carry it to your hotel for tournaments.

A spinner is going to be my Christmas gift to myself this year.

Below is my first try using this thing. I used it last week to polish my spare ball which looks brand new now. But this was my first time actually doing real work. Didn't take before pics, but I had a really bad track going around the ball from the revs on dry synthetics and a lot of random scratches on the ball. Now the ball looks great. I went to 2000 grit on this. No polish. I did my Recharge too to 4000 grit and no polish. Will see how it works this week during leagues. Even though this is 2000 grit, it looks very similar to how it was when new (Storm claims 800 grit matte). If it dies out on lane or hooks too much I may move up to 3000 grit or something. Would rather not use polish on reactive balls because I think it just ruins what makes them "reactive".
