Fun post! Which would you choose?
« on: December 02, 2008, 07:55:12 AM »
Which would you choose?

1. You get any bowling ball and a case of abralon pads (all the grits 360 to 4000).

2. You get two bowling balls of your choice but are not allowed to alter the coverstock on either ball.

If your bowling in a tourney which scenerio would you go with?  If your bowling in a league which would you go with?

This post is just for fun.  I'm curious which is the more popular choice.

My choice is #1 because I would much rather be able to adjust the coverstock on a bowling ball to fit the pattern.  Their are some really good versatile bowling balls on the market today that can be used on almost any condition with the correct cover grit!

I would go with number 2, a dull solid and polished pearl. I would also make sure that these two balls would be able to cover a variety of conditions without changing the covers.

I would go with #1.  Buy a Black Widow Solid and just continuously tweak the cover

I'd be a winner!

#1 could work well for league, but I'd take my chances with #2.  No matter how perfect you get a ball's surface, the lanes will change, especially for a tournament shot.  Give me two options over one any day.  Of course, if you mean constantly altering the one ball with the pads as the lanes change, it's a different question, but since you mentioned leagues or tournaments, I'd assume you meant no changing of the surface once scoring starts per USBC rules.

Your correct, you can't change the cover during a set in tourney's or league.  However, some tounrey's are set up as a set of singles, doubles, team ect... .  So you would be able to adjust the cover between sets.

#1, hands down.
I do not leave many balls in OOB condition.
#2 would be a huge gamble for me.

No. 1 for sure. Some companies' out of box polish, I immediately change, whether the ball is new or not!

With a box of abralon pads, I could make at least 4 effective balls out of just the one, I was given.

Besides, I already got enuff balls anyway!

there are a lot more number 2's than i thought i would see...im telling you give me a box of abralon pads and ANY ball i choose (would probably be a mid line reactive) and you can create a monster in oil or a ball you can play when they dry up as well at 4000...

the blue vibe or cherry vibe would prob be my choice and just change surfaces...idk i guess i dont think layouts are as important as surface adjustments...

number two no question.

I can move my feet, adjust wrist position, and ball speed.
