Norm Duke alignment method
« on: April 02, 2010, 01:17:19 AM »
I was bored yeseterday and found a website (nextlevelbowling.com) which I'm assuming is a lesson scheduling website for Duke, Voss, and a few other high level bowlers and coaches.

Well, on the website Norm was giving a lesson to a gentleman and he stated that he uses his feet to achieve what he's looking for in terms of playing striaght, opening the lanes, or closing the lanes. He essentially matches his feet to his hands to achieve what he's looking for:
Neutral = Feet even + hands together like a book
Closed  = Right foot lead + Right hand lead
Open    = Left foot lead + Left hand lead

I used it last night and it's pretty effective. I learned the hard way that for me I need the neutral position for right side spares because the position is so effective at keeping me closed that I missed to the right for the first time since I was a junior.

As for the left side spares or splits, the closed position makes it really hard to miss. I've only thrown 3 games with the method, so I'm still feeling it out, but there were a couple other things on there that you should really check out.

I looked at a few of Norm's nextlevel bowling on youtube, and I found them to be very well done. I hope he does a lot more. I learned a lot of basic things, sometimes you overlook that make a huge difference.
