All cover..

If a ball company came out with a ball that is the HOOKINGEST cover
they made and put it around a pancake weightblock, what would you guys do?

1. Not consider it?
2. Drill it for tournament conditions?
3. Drill it for house conditions?

Interesting question. I probably wouldn't consider something like that though. Cores are too important in my opinion, at least for my game. Would be really, really worried about carry with something like that. Especially for corner pins.

The Razyr by Hammer http://www.hammerbowling.com/products/retired-balls/razyr-purple

I loved this ball years ago. My only issue was carry down or migrating left of 4th arrow. Ball was money on fresh short or flat patterns.

I probably wouldn't consider it at the strongest cover.  a tried and true cover that is more likely in the medium range, say storms R2S cover as an example, that I may pick up.

for me, on the amounts of oil where the strongest cover would be appropriate the pancake would likely not carry.  but on a medium or a more dry pattern where I know I can get the ball to turn, the pancake block wouldn't be a problem for me.  heck, on a pattern like boardwalk or other shorter pattern it may be a benefit.

I would consider it for short patterns with volume. Would I actually buy one? Not sure

What about the opposite? A strong asymmetric core with a really weak resin cover

Storm posted this with the release of the Rocket and covers most of what is mentioned.
