what's good for...
« on: April 20, 2016, 04:16:02 PM »
I have some tenderness and roughness on the base of my index finger from palm to ball contact. I've been working on my release for the last year and recently notice the irritation after bowling several games. I just want to protect that area without the use of a glove.

Anyway, what do you use to protect this area of the palm?

Is there protective tape with some grip to it?
Does a round object have sides? I say yes, pizza has triangles..

Have you tried the most textured Vise Hada patch or Genesis Excel tape on that area?  That's the route I would take.  I don't like the patches for release purposes, but it would be my go-to for protecting areas like that.

For example:

A lot of high rev bowlers get that. I think they usually just let a callus build up over time. Come on Jay, get tough and deal with it. :)

usually having a some slight callousing at the base of the index finger is considered a good sign and one of the few not to worry about unless it starts to bother you.

Since you don't want to use a glove, virtually any of the protective tapes would work.

I got some sample from them and do have this tape in the bag. I'll try it out this week.

I have a big o callous there. I use to use the Brunswick or storm roll tape the ones u cut yourself. Using the pre cut ones are more expensive but they work too. IMO tho you should let the callous build up with a few games then slap tape on when its unbearable. Oh I just remember that ball thingy with rosin w.e it is helps massage the callous could try that too
