Alter Ego= pro shop bad!!!
« on: September 17, 2004, 07:17:00 PM »
Last week while practicing my ball got hung in the ball return in the pit. It got scratch up pretty bad. I took it into the pro shop to show the pro shop operator. He went and looked at the machine in the back and said that the bucket was broke and a sharp weld scratched my ball. He offered to fix my ball for free. The ball was in box condition. Well after getting my ball back, it still has some scratches on it, very small. The ball reacts total different than before!!! Looks the same finish as before, but just slides past breakpoint and doesn't have any backend!!! My only option is to drive 125 miles to take it to a shop with a has sander(I think thats what its called) to get it refinished. I would like it to react the same as before but with just a few feet more before turning. Dose anyone have any suggestions on the finish!!! thanks

once you touch particles with sandpaper, they are never the same

But if you use Scotchbrite on Particles, they're okay, aren't they?

He used sandpaper, not sure what grit or if he even did it right. I have some green scotch pads. I used them on a old turbo diesel I had and that thing hooked off the lane after that!!! Maybe I can hit the Alter ego with it and put a little black magic plus on it!!!

If he used sandpaper, your ball is dead.

I really hope the ball is fixable That was one of my favorite balls to use. I'll put on the spinner and scotchbrite it with a green pad to see what it dose.... Thanks everyone for your input !!!

Use the green first and then buy some white. it is around 1000-1200 grit, which is way closer to what your ball was like from the factory.

LOL-

Watch the pro shop operator have the nerve to make him pay 30 bucks for resurface, and then another 20 for rejuvenation...

... and then figure out that he sanded the particle beads flat in the beginning and tells the guy to cough up 200 bucks for another ball..

too bad.

maybe its just me, but my pro shop sands my phenom to 800 with carbide sandpaper and my old freak used to get sanded with sandpaper, and both of those are completely fine. Never had a problem with either of them, except i switched from 14 to 15 and got rid of the freak. The phenom is alive and kickin after 300+ games, but maybe i just got lucky with the whole sandpaper thing.
