Had not bowled in three weeks since the end of men's league. Got from work at 8:30 so I figured I deserved to go out and practice a few games.
Get to the lanes and shoot 228 first game. Feeling really good. Not using my robby's rev and threw it pretty consistent. Totally loose concentration second game ---138.
Third game bowl horrible for the first 8 frames, strike out for 166.
Decided to slow down and see how good I could throw it the last game. Shoot a very quiet 300. Brooklyn the last shot. Not because of nerves, just missed my mark. Go to the counter to pay and the owner ask, as he always does, "did you shoot 300?" I told him yes, and he almost fainted, called his brother/co-owner and they could not believe it. Showed a little class and paid for my games.
In context, although unsanctioned, in this old (pre 1964) wood house, 300 games are rare. Not one shot the entire 9 month men's league. Only a couple of 800s shot in this house ever. You can count the three hundreds, sanctioned and unsanctioned, on your hands.
Still, do not feel like this was a major accomplishment. I have bowled better games with lower scores to show for it. Carried one high shot and a brooklyn. It is fun to be mentioned in the short list of people that have bowled a three hundred in our small town hell hole.
