Perplexing Offer
« on: August 09, 2009, 11:42:07 AM »
I'm a bit perplexed. I have a post in the for sale section with a handful of things I"m looking to get rid of. I just received a message from a member making a serious offer of $30 shipped for a NIB Black Widow Solid. I responded kindly that the ball was brand new and never drilled.

I got a response back saying ok when you can't find anyone to buy it let me know. This came with no mention of paying anything more for the ball.

Am I misinterpreting the value of this ball, what he meant, or is this guy off his rocker?

Welcome to cheapskate central. Just because a ball is discontinued there are plenty of guys who think it means that the ball is now worthless.

That ball is worth a solid $75-100 depending on what the specs are and what your market is.

All I can say is that we sold a ton of them. In my opinion it's the best one of that line. There will be someone who will pay you more than $30 for that ball. Be patient, not stupid.

$100 - 125 shipped would be the minimum reasonable for a NIB one, in my opinion, depending on shipping distance and method, and only that cheap because it has been discontinued.

Don't sweat it too much. Sounds like somebody trying to get something for almost nothing.

NIB Black Widow ought to be worth at least $100

Ok ok, first guy at my door with 4 forty in cash gets the ball!

On a serious note, I was pretty sure he had to be off his rocker but then again I haven't had anyone make a serious offer for it. People have offered lower end stuff NIB or higher end single drill stuff for it. I'm seriously contemplating keeping it since it has great specs. Unfortunately right now i've got a break solid that fills the strong sold reactive spot in my lineup and can't see drilling one of these as well.

Also, I'm not going to post the members name and bring myself to his level, so you'll all be stuck with wondering p

Whether you sell that ball or not, tell the guy at some point that you sold the ball for $40.  $5 says he'll be pissed he didn't offer just a little more, if he really wanted the ball anyways.  Seriously, obviously that low of an offer probably means he didn't care enough about it though.
