Just wondering if any one is going. I will be there at the 11:45 squad on August 3.

I remember reading a thread of Peterson stories and was rolling with laughter.  Hope some of you Peterson veterans might re-post those.

Nothing like bad pin spots, differently weighted pins, horrible lane conditions,  a scoreboard/advertisement board that hangs over the lanes blocking your view of the pins and a lack of arrows to throw your game into a funk.  It sure is fun though.  Never thought I would see so many decent bowlers throw games under 100.  How a few people can average 200 for 8 games in that tournament is mind boggling.

Yes it is fun, and a real humbling experience. It really freaked me out when you look and see all of what O says and even the pins that are missing the tops or parts of the sides.

I am scheduled to go the very last weekend of the tournament in early Sep.

The new place is tough, but nothing can top the old place in that old building up all those stairs.

Those were the toughest conditions, I have ever seen.

I averaged 185 there last year (considered pretty good for the Petersen) and didnt make any money back.

I can remember at the old place if you averaged 180 for the tournament , you would be getting a check for $1000 guaranteed.

Everyone should experience it once.

Yep, will be there August 17th at 3pm.  This is my 2nd year bowling in it and it's pretty entertaining.  I did get to see it the last year they had it in the old place - talk about wild!  It's not quite the same experience, but still challenging.

I'll be bowling in the "Pete" on my usual squad at 11:45 AM on August 21.  Those of you who have been on BallReviews for a while can stop here, since the rest will be repetitious.

The squad on which I bowl has numerous PBA players, both regional and touring.  Some of the names that I can recall are Dick Weber and his sons Rich, John, and of course, Pete.  Pete's wife also bowls and last year one of Dick's grandsons bowled.  In addition, we have had Brian Himmler, Eugene McCune and a host of regional players from the PBA Midwest Region.  You may be asking yourself at this point "What's this guy doing on the squad?"  That's easy - I am the 'cap guy!  Oh, wait a minute - this is a scratch tournament - never mind!  In that case, I guess I'm there because they need donators.    Seriously though, I just enjoy having the opportunity to bowl on the same squad with those guys.  What the heck - I cashed two years ago - can lightning strike twice

Since only two balls are allowed to be used, I'll be taking my urethane ball with surface for the oily lanes and my plastic ball for the dry lanes and spares.

Is anyone bowling the Pete on Jul 26?  I've got to be in Michigan Jul 27, would save me a trip up North.

I used to live in the neighborhood of the old building.  Grew up in that neighborhood.  To say it was a challenging house was an understatement.  A lot harder to count boards from the side, than from next to an arrow.  The place always smelled like spilled beer and cigar smoke, too.  Rolled my ball over a roach that decided to cross my lane once, too.  Ecch. Balls came back scratched and gouged on a regular basis, too.  I see the new house is in the burbs.  Got to be a lot better.
