Title: An idea for Bowling Centers - (Online Competition)
Post by: trash heap on September 06, 2012, 04:53:09 PM
Imagine you walk into to your home center and you could compete with other bowlers in other centers across the country.

Of course the biggest problem would be oil pattern, but if you could get readings of the lanes before competition started and have them confirmed. Why just limit the competition locally.

Sure it there would be cost with computers, cameras and internet access, but it might bring some business. Instead of cameras make it an app for ipads. Just need the internet connection.

That's basically what Scott Scriver the guy that started this site and maintains is doing with Virtualtournaments.com

Just me personally but you are not playing on the same field.  You can't compare player A's scores to players B's across the country.

Even in the same center many times some pairs play better than other pairs....now compare that to another center.  Unfair.

Unless there was an handicap system similar to golf where each hole and course is rated, putting everyone on a level playing field.

Check out this website for a national bowling league championship!!
www.nationalbowlingleaguechampionship.com
*Based on 10,000 teams the 1st place money is $100,000.00 for the overall prize, plus it has weekly prizes of $3000.00 for 1st place based on 10,000 teams. They also have Division prize of $2000.00 1st place based on 10,000 teams. The great thing is you don't have to bowl on the same team, but bowl in the same league! It based on a five person team and it's five people that have to bowl in the same league, but they don't have to be from the same team, with max team average of 1100. You can also bowl a four person team with a max average of 880, but they have to all bowl the same league! The fee is $78 per person/$390 per team, for the whole tournament and they're numerous ways to win money! Just a thought and you can check it out and see what you think!! I got this info from my friend that I bowl tournament with and he knows this guy who's starting this!
